Default Performance Chip Direct

I was looking to buy a chip for my IS350 and found this website, www.performancechipsdirect.com. I chatted with one of their guys and says they average 10-13%, seems a little outrageous... any thoughts??

The outrageous part is them asking $69 for $2 in parts from radio shack.

It's not a "performance chip" it's a rheostat (an adjustable resistor) that lies to your IAT about how cold your incoming air is. That's it. (and it's a pretty awful idea in the first place)

I especially like the disclaimer in the install directions
"By using this product you agree to release us, its owners, employees and affiliates from all liability and/or damages you incur by using this product"

Here's the exact same type of rip off "performance chip" but at least they only mark it up 1000% instead of 3000%

Have some real fun. Click here for a Google search on the address listed on their site. Looks like they're ripping off all kinds of automotive enthusiasts.

Always ask yourself the question: "If it seems too good to be true, are the chances are that it is?"

If for $70 you could get 30hp, don't you think there'd be more news about it, especially on this site?

Thanks guys! I would have to agree with the last comment, it felt too good to be true, so I had to ask... Any ideas for a good chip? Seems like they aren't that easy to come by.

Apex SAFC hard wired to ECU/PCM will be the closest to a "chip" you can get, that will provide 6-10 hp at the wheels. Cost ebay$ 100.00 , new $400ish
