What Size FMIC are you running????
Hey whats up.......my motor swap/build are well under way....and now I need to buy an intercooler....so I measured the space and it looks like I should be able to fit a 36"X10"X4" with 3" in and outs.....so I figured I'd ask around and see what everyone else is running....and for some recommendations on size/fitment.....
Thanks
Thanks

I custom built a crash bar to fit a 4" core. Also I had to build a custom ac line for the high side. The core I'm using is 24x12x4 with 3" in/outlets. The endtanks add about another 8-9" to the length. So I guess you can call it a 32x12x4 intercooler.

that's about the same size that I am running. GReddy R.Spl 33x12x5. and yes, I had to modify the **** out of my bumper and crash bar to make it fit.

jeff, would you by chance have a picture of the custom AC line since I might have you build me one.

hmmmmm.....I can have a AC line made that''s no big deal.....as far as the radiator..................I got a big hammer ............................I suppose I could make some custom mounts for the bottom of the radiator to pivot it about an inch back just for the added clearance .....a friend of mine is bringing his by tonight is 32X12X4 so I'm gonna test fit an seed what I can do

I'm a little confused. . . I have an almost 5" thick core and it doesn't sit anywhere near the ac line, condenser or radiator? Why are you guys having to modify all that stuff to make a thinner core fit?

Are you sure you're fitting a 5" thick core back there and retaining a decent crash bar? I had to make a custom front crash bar out of 1" square tubing in order to make my intercooler to fit. The ac line I'm talking about is the one that lets you fill freon and is attached to the AC dryer and condenser.

you're right, this will fit on the front of the GS nicely. But mine is quite a bit larger. I believe mine is 36x14x4" which requires some finessing.

Yup, it's definatly 5" thick. And I didn't say anything about it not interfering with the crash bar! It's a bolt on kit for the Aristo, and the instructions dictate that you are to notch the crash bar. . . Too much work I just cut it into 2 separate pieces to go on either side of the I/C. It doesn't interfere with anything else other than the crash bar.

I was going to put in a 5" thick core, but I prefer to keep my crash bar. So I had to compromise and use a 4" thick core lol. BTW: for all of you guys here thinking the biggest intercooler is the best...that is not true at all.
The bigger the intercooler is, the more volume the turbo has to pressurize and this will lead to significantly increased lag. Same thing goes for 2.5" vs 3" charge piping. Only use what your system needs to keep things efficient otherwise you will suffer pressure drop and excessive spool time. Match your turbo to piping/intercooler size

This is what I used from Precision Turbo.
PIN 053-1515 750-hp 31 1/2 L x 10 5/8 H x 3 1/2 D 2 3/4
Very little modification and supports 700+ HP.
Unless you plan on making more than that I wouldn't go too crazy with the size. The efficiency is much more important.

Here is a pic of it installed.
