It looks pretty beefy, did you get a chance to do base numbers? Also your Works look nice, those are CR-kai? What are the offsets btw?

I want a ARC intake so bad! I've had my eye on once since my Honda days.

Sadly, without a base dyno pull on the same dyno these numbers are pretty worthless

very interesting, the pipe and the box looks huge. But, even with those enlarged. The tube where air first come in contact with is not enlarged, isn't that pretty pointless?

i dont know know if the tub is 'exactly' same size as the joe-z/f-sport/...etc. but its pretty darn close to it. and there are two air filters, the top which you can obviously see and one thats vertical on the right side of the box which is twice as big and also the factory air duct is being utilized

to begin with 3sq inches of frontal area is WAY more than enough. The stock intake is sized at just over 3in in diabeter while most aftermarkets (especially the cheaper ones) are actually smaller diameter pipes while still calling them 3 inches.

Only 1.9 sq inches of frontal area is needed to achieve the amount of torque at 4800 rpms. Therefore, increasing the size of the intake pipe will do nothing more than throw your maf sensor out of calibration.

Increasing the box size COULD have benefit IF you are able to retain positive pressure while increasing the volume of the box. I believe the larger box will help retain cooler air temps because more air is being shoved into the box than the engine can injest. This should act as additional "insulation" before the air gets warm due to engine heat.

but didn't the JOEZ intake, which only replaced the factory Pipe increased HP on a IS350 by 5WHP and 5LB torque? but the ARC super induction intake system which has enlarged everything only produced an increased of 4 WHP and 4 lb Torque?

I'd take the ARC Induction Box just for bragging rights. The HP gains for an intake are so nominal that it really doesn't matter what you have.

That thing is more rare than forced induction on a 2IS.

Chris - are you getting a CEL with the ARC? I seem to remember that being an issue early on.

And if anyone is selling one of these, I'm buying!

The original poster did not do a base dyno run, so we have no idea what he "gained" (if anything) from the ARC box.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if the ARC (which was some stupid amount of $ brand new if I recall) produced no better results than the Joe Z intake...

because as noted, "more air" isn't the need for a 2IS intake. It already gets more air than it needs stock.

Better, not more, flow is the real gain you're getting from the Joe.
