GS400 Intake Shootout
#16
Just pointing out that if everyone takes a step back & recognizes that the test vehicle utilized an aftermarket exhaust, you can deduce that the stock vehicle numbers would have been lower than what was derived.
Ethan clearly outlines this in his writeup and thus with this train of thought in mind, the competing intake doesn't loose the 1 hp and the SRT system gains even more RWHP in comprison to a stock exhaust GS400.

It looks as if the SRT came within 1 rwhp of its advertised #, but the torque is still close to 20 shy of what is shown on the SRT web-site. I think the torque was what alot of members were wondering about........
How does the Weapon R-Intake produce that much torque???????????

Tiny - They only spec. an 11HP increase with the intake AND ECU?...and only 13.8 TQ increase (both differences are based on the best stock run and best SRT run)...hmmm...
SRT - Why are the #'s gained nothing like what SRT promises? Also, what about the fact that the Injen intake (ALONE with NO ECU) gives similar numbers?
I am pretty sure that the Injen with the APEXi S-AFC will be the best combo after seeing those numbers...
GS430 Guy - Thanks for the dyno sheet but I think a dyno run at an independent place would carry some more weight...also, did you do a stock run beforehand? What were your stock numbers...I'm interested to see how a TC affects the numbers...
Weapon-R - And some people got on my case for calling them a "ricer" company. It's obvious that they haven't shed their ricer mentality (this kind of packaging and service is perfectly acceptable in the Honda market BTW)...I call 'em like I see 'em...

I agree with Manaray, how can Weapon-R call themselves a good company that wants to sell items for high end vehicles such as for our Lexus!? Their customer service, frantly for any better words, SUCKED *** and how the hell can you send an Intake that doesnt fit your own Cold Air Box. GEEEEZZZZ. You know, as soon as the Injen intake comes out for the GS400, we should do a group buy Manaray. I think a lot of people with no intakes and some of the Weapon-R intake people like me would jump all over the GB. IMO
Also, I'm posting some pix of how the Weapon-R intake that WR sent didnt fit in the next dew posts:

Weapon-Rice is right!!! They should stick with the Honda/Acura market and not make themselves look back trying to develop products for our cars. After that intake not fitting, I'm almost glad that we never got those instructions for the WR ECU, GOD knows what kinda stuff that would have done to my car.

Manaray,
I never got my car dynoed before doing my upgrades, Mo didn't have one then . But before Mo tweaked my car, I was only getting 244 RWHP. As far as the TC affecting the numbers, it spikes the TQ on the dyno. IMO my TQ is around 275-280 lb/ft @ the wheels, not 291 as the dyno states. TC is a must have upgrade though for launching the car, unless one is doing forced induction.

I agree with Manaray with regards to the quality and fit and finish of a product should be deserving of our luxury-sport vehicles.
For that, SRT has always come through with regards to the quality of the fit and finish of their products no doubt.
I would like to point out that the most interesting thing is that the Torque numbers are equal or better for the SRT intake with ECU and the WR intake alone. Something to think about when considering your budget. True, there is no final resolution but we did discover more with this dyno event (Ethan, take heart, all is not wasted ).
Lexlyf: That was a great point you bring up! Thanks for your fairness! I know I have a been a big pain in the *** for you guys (probably an understatement) but I recognize fair play and civility when I see it so kudos to you!
