Hmmm. Scott that's weird.. Im wondering if we could bypass that whole mess and just create a plate to put ontop of that and only put 8 holes in it for the intake charge??

Im wondering what these butterfly valves even dooo????

Not much help here I"m afraid.
I have larger injectors, custom tuned WOLF Ecu, methonal injection, 13.5 psi, Whipple, custom exhaust cams, big exhaust, 500 hp and lot's of money.

You know that you still have more clearance up top... just using half of it would still likely clear. I installed an STB and it has clearance over engine cover and also clears the hood.

There is a way to use up that space too by using a small welded sandwhich to lower your supercharger into that cavity and still take advantage of the halved intake. I would find out about it first because it looks like it'll clear the hood.

I really like that belt tensioner.

Is that the two little pulleys underneath the main supercharger pulley? Because we need something like that because the water pump is in the way...

Supercharger: $175 shipped
Underdrive pulley: $80 shipped (was a whole set, ended up only needing the crank pulley.. bummer)
Boost gauge: $50 shipped
3" Aluminum piping: like $10 worth out of an $80 kit I'll use later
Engine Management: Free (go ROMRaider!) Yeah the Tactrix costs money, but I was using it for a while before the build, and it is actually the reason I even took so long to snap out of tuning mode and into SC mode
Angle iron: $12
Random crap: let's call it $50, prolly a lot less
Aluminum Plate: $80

Grand total: $460 If you don't mind getting a little crazy and learning everything yourself, it's amazing the money you can save

Wow thats a good price! As i am researching and adding up these totals in my head we SHOULD be able to keep things under $1000 IF we can keep the work in a machine shop to a minimum and i could get a friend to do the welding.

For the intake into the supercharger, would it make a difference to use 1/4" steel instead of aluminum?

Also would 1/4" thick aluminum be a good side for the intake 'Box'.

Any input would be appreciated.

Current list

Intake

http://www.siliconeintakes.com/shopp...68e3fcf2fdfc19 $75

Gasket material

http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Gasket-77B-.../dp/B000BWE3VO $11

Boost gauge

http://prosportgauges.com/60mm_perfo...es_gauges.aspx $80

Wideband Gauge

http://prosportgauges.com/wideband-a...kit-Amber.aspx $210

1/4" Aluminum stock

http://www.speedymetals.com/pc-2408-...num-plate.aspx 2'x3' $90

2.8" Pulley

http://www.pulleyboys.com/store/cata...lley-p-35.html $75

Supercharger

$200

$741+ One fast GS= PRICELESS

The other $250 give or take some can be used for misc. Parts and/or machine shop and fab.

I think a 1/4"-1/2" aluminum would suffice. I overengineer EVERYTHING, so I'll probably go with 1/2" to countersink the bolts and decrease the chance of warping, assuming I have the room. I thinking of 16 ga. sheet steel for the rear intake elbow/adapter.

Frank. Do you have any knowledge about machining? You said you had access to a machine shop? How much do you think everything would cost to get machined properly, Because i would like to countersink as well to create that flush look

I'm thinking 1/4" should be good for the intake mani. But why not go with aluminum for the rear intake/adapter as well?

The adapter plate should be doable at home if you take your time and don't mind a slightly imperfect look. Sheet steel intake adapter because aluminum's a PITA to weld.

Im just worrying about being able to mock this thing on and have everything fit. Especially the vacuum valve and TB assembly.

Can anyone confirm if the Butterfly valves effect our plans?

I don't think the butterflies matter, just confirm they don't have any electronics hooked to them then say bye bye. The intake above seems to have dumped them.
