Mean Gene,

I will probably do a dyno before and after TM plugs at SP if anyone can hook me up with those guys. PM me.

I just wanted to put in my money or should i say 2 cents i think this is a great test and until someone shares there opinion then you see where there can be variances. how did that gs430 get 291 ft lbs of torque? has any one dynoed srt race ecu, intake, exhaust ,and torque converter from srt i would love to know the results it would be like a gift. And 1 of my racing friends that owns a mustang said if you do cat back on exhaust and port and polish you'll pick up like somewhere about 30 more hp please give some feed back thanks...

I don't think cat-back along would give you that many horsepower 'cuz I'm running exactly what you listed except I have a regular SRT ECU. Anyway, we will see when I dyno my car. Perhaps Ethan can hook me up with SP?

Thanx for the dyno results mean gene! This is probably a stupid question, but was the "smoothing" option for the curves the same on both runs?? --There is definitely more jagedness in the upper rpm range with the TMs.
Regardless, the TMs are providing more power...I just ordered my set.

Peace

BB:

Merry Christmas. I've got the dyno for this exact setup (look at the link in my sig for my setup) and will post a writeup as soon as I get the dyno data files from SRT.

I will say that the method Mo uses to dyno (locking down the tc) leads to a more predictable and accurate dyno. He did a 'typical' dyno with my car - similar to what I did at our last Charlotte Dyno meet - and got some incredible torque results even better than the gs430 you mentioned .

beautiful i would of thought you'd get a little more with that..
Dyno Results 4/27/02: Max RWHP 246.5 Torque 286.6
what does that equate to in crank horse power over stock 300hp-300ft lbs ?

Lightbulb SRT's Opinion

Gang - Got a quick PM reply from Marken about the dyno results. He's been reading our threads & didn't think he could add much because of our "intelligent" input - think he was being sarcastic?? Actually, he felt that it could be a tranny contribution ( possibly trying to prepare for the next upshift ) & it would be magnified by the use of a performance T/C. Of course, this doesn't explain Loyd's TM results because he has NO mods as of yet ( I'm working on him, though!! ) I'm still not convinced that it's not an ignition/leanout situation so I'll try & do a dyno test with the TM plugs & some serious mileage on the ECU before re-dynoing.
GS430 - Yes, I called "Dyno" Tom down in BR & he assured me that the buffering on all 4 runs was set the same.
BB- Use 80% drivetrain efficiency on an automatic tranny. This works out to 308.1 HP & 358.3 TQ at the flywheel on the data U supplied. Nice TQ figures!!

Thumbs up

Thanks Mean Gene. Maybe you can also contact the guys at TorqueMaster also and see what they say. I would of call but due to my location and time difference.

Can't wait to get my set from Steve Ganz.

BB:

Using 80% its still around 300hp crank and 340tq. These are from a dyno that didn't lock down my TC and let me drive on the dyno (a mistake IMO).

My new HP numbers with the race ECU are a bit higher (~256 from memory as I don't recall the exact numbers) and the before/after comparison are very interesting as well. Especially since SRT isn't running a big cooling fan and I had some serious heat soak going on during my post-race-ecu-install dynos after 8 runs on a hot humid day.

Keep in mind that the folks at SRT like to take the TC out of the equation when doing a dyno as it distorts the power curve of the dyno. I'm still not sure if I like that because I love seeing my RWTQ peak at about 310 - but I definitely agree it makes comparing apples/apples much easier.

I'll stop posting on this topic now until I get my data with the exact numbers (my memory is terrible) - you should look at the dyno shootout postings from Static911 for more details in the short term.

Also-I haven't heard of anyone doing a port/polish on a GS.

Here's ya gift from my GS430 dynoed at SRT with the above mentioned mods. SRT Race ECU, TC and Borla SS Exhaust. Mo didn't have the 01+ ECU diagram to lock the TC and lock the car in 3rd, he got the car into 3rd accelerating and hammered it when it was in 3rd, which the results show.

Had a couple of minutes during lunch break and was getting tired of flipping between the two dyno charts that Mean Gene did to see the differences. I sample the data at 100 rpm increment. Do not use this as an accurate representation of the actual dyno. I just want to see how much improvement at each 100 rpm sample.
