Not even close. TM spotted the "+4" in the early development days and Bosch knew what they were doing in avoiding patent infringement. If the Bosch had the electrodes combined slightly differently then they would be in court as of now. As it stands, Bosch WILL NOT perform nearly as well as the TM plugs. This is information straight from Maurice Lindsay, inventor of the TM plugs.

An other factor overlooked in all of this discussion is heat range. Plugs of the same physical construction typically come in many different heat ranges. The engine designer or tuner chooses a plug with the best compromise between being hot enough to avoid fouling after 30 minutes of idling in an engine with 200K miles of wear yet cool enough to avoid detonation, preignition and excessive charge heating etc. Needless to say this is a huge compromise. It is well known that putting a one or even two steps cooler plug of otherwise identical construction will result in more HP. This is largely because the plug is one of the hottest components that the air/fuel mixture is exposed to prior to combustion and is also the one component that it is deliberately aimed at. It therefor has a disproportionately high influence on charge heating. Given that those who like to experiment for more power probably have low mileage engines with little oil fouling and are likely to except the odd misfire after prolonged idling I would suggest that a Dyno run be done on the Denso Iridium’s IK 22 and IK 24. The standard heat range is IK20.

More power does not necessarily mean better, it just means that the heat range to fouling compromise was changed in favor of more power versus less fouling.

So perhaps instead of testing two different ECU conditions the test were really of two different heat range sets of plugs???

Bringing up a thread back from the dead...

Torquemaster is now at http://www.extremespark.com They've changed the number as well as their site.

Already have 90k miles on the plugs, working great! Though when I installed the number 8 plug, it somehow worked slightly loose after 90k miles. Still, better than the Denso iridiums. Took a look at them and the plugs are a bit dark, but are much better shape than the Denso iridiums at 20k.

111k miles on my GS400...and going strong!
