slipping transmission?
Hi guys, i notice that from dead start from a redlight, my RPM would reach high up to 4k before the speedometer would even move and i would hear a harsher tone from the engine, and im not sure which gear im on but i notice a hard shift while the car is in motion too, could it be that my transmission is slipping that causes bad gas mileage? i do notice that my transmission fluid level is a little more than what it should be at, does that matter? my car respond very weak on the freeway, i have to sort of floor it to get it up to speed, feels like im pushing a 4 cylinder car when its actually i6. any help is thanked.

i cleaned it already and the throttle body, didnt make a difference, i do notice that theres a rumble in the dash when the car is idle, but when i step on the gas the noise goes away. and theres a little noise behind the dash when the car IS in motion, sounds like a loose timing belt or a bad one? i only have 60k on the GS

The car should NOT require 4000 or 3000 or even 2000 rpm to get moving. Either your torque converter has a problem or your transmission. If you changed fluid at 50k miles and you are having big issues and discolored oil at 60k that is BAD.
Our transmissions REQUIRE Toyota fluid (or possibly one of the synthetics such as Amsoil). I have heard many problems after a fluid change caused by using another oil. Have the system COMPLETELY flushed and refilled with the proper spec Toyota fluid and it may fix the problem IF permanent damage has not yet occured (very possible)
