Default Remove resonators or install x-pipe?

I have an 01 gs430 and currently I have an apex ws2 installed, but I want a little more sound out of it. Whats a better idea? to remove the two resonators or to install an x-pipe?? thanks

Remove the two resonators OR do a muffler delete. Start with the delete. If you like it you can have pipes installed to extend to the bumper.

The 430s have a center catalyst that I do NOT recommend replacing with an X, H or Y pipe.

Thank you sir, I think ill start with getting rid of the resonators. I don't want it much louder plus I like the look of the mufflers.

My reason for saying both is because my G8 GT Pontiac (different of course) has th 6.0 V8. I actually went with the H-pipes instead of the X-pipe deleted both resonators and added the magnaflows and it wasnt very loud until i got on it. Even then it was enough to make heads turn without sounding like a exhaust job on a Harley at WOT!

Again, the 430 has a center catalyst. I do not recommend removing it for several reasons. Just do the twin resonators if you must keep your final mufflers.

Same with the 400's?

Also, where does a guy find the correct size X-pipe? 2-1/8 ID in and out, right?

Whats up Frankdorn! (Chis or Matt right> ) Anyway, the 3rd center muffler is just a resonator on your car. 400 had two cats that feed into a resonator where the 430 has a cat there.

GS400 has a single center resonator not a cat.

The single center pipe is 60mm = 2.36" OD

The twin pipes from the engine to the Y are 50mm = 1.97" OD

The way the stock Y pipes works is better than MOST Y or X or H pipes you can find.

Why do you want an X pipe? Sound?

I was thinking X-pipe for a little more grunt and flow, thinking maybe 5hp, I dunno. Gotta pull everything down for the TC and header install here anyway. I won't bother having it done if the differences in flow are that marginal, though.

I feel kinda stupid, but to confirm, the 400's exhaust layout is this, correct?:

(Front of car)
Header Header
Cat Cat
Y-pipe
Resonator
Y-pipe
Resonator Resonator
Muffler Muffler

correct

also, it is more likely that you will not gain anything or even loose by changing the front Y pipe
