SRT HFI help kill wrx?
a stock GS400 and a stock WRX have similar 0-60 and quarter mile times; will a SRT high flow intake + ECU make the difference?? how much will the intake effect the 0-60 and quarter times? if it's not enough, what will be???

A gs4 should beat an auto WRX most of the time. If the WRX owner can shift and is willing to thrash the driveline, a manual WRX should take a gs4 most of the time. The "most of the time" seems like a cop out, but the cars are close enough that the driver makes the biggest difference.
Speed adders are a good thing, but it's a lot easier to hop up a WRX than a GS -- so whenever you line up you have to ask yourself if you feel lucky.

Yes alot of things come in play with those two cars. The drivers for one! I got a 13.9 out of my GS400 and there was a guy with a WRX doing 14.6s. But I have seen a WRX hit a 13.6 with light mods(ie. down pipe, intake, slicks). I have the racing ECU/Intake specially tuned by Mo.... Damn I'm glad I live near SRT!!!!

auto WRXs run something like 6.2~6.3 for 0-60 and manuals with good drivers can be as fast as 5.5 or 5.6 As for 1/4 mile, both auto and manual are pretty fast. With light mods, both auto and manual are equally as fast 1/4 mile. That says something about automatic turbo cars with minimum boost-drop when shifting.
Average WRX driver can probably pull 5.9~6.0 0-60. It's really hard to determine which car is faster unless both were driven by the same driver if it's manual.
Keep in mind, auto WRXs with mods can be FAST (especially when turbos are changed, and the lag isn't too much of a problem for those autos)

The biggest place a 'stock' WRX is going to kill a GS4 is off the line. Those things have a great launch with their AWD. I'd start with getting a torque converter and LSD (probably go with the Supra/RMM with higher 3.76 gearing for this application).
Second I'd combine this with the SRT HFI/ecu for top end push.
Alternatively, you could get a rocket launcher or one of those spinning cutting things that comes out of your wheel that pops their tires.

The Last suggestion sounds the most foolproof!
If the WRX guy changes turbos a GS4 will need some forced air cause a light car with a 450hp motor is gonna be pretty hard to beat otherwise. Gonna take more then a TC and LSD and a little more air on top to beat a WRX.

A WRX with an upgraded turbo hits low 12's so i don't know if a gs can hang with a low 12's car with SC or Turbo...do to the car size, i mean if it was an IS then we should compare it with the WRX, but stock wise gs400 is fast and so is wrx but, gs will win by a nose....and WRX with IS stock, WRX all the way.

LSD vs TRAC
Does anyone know of any testing done in this venue?
It is really hard for me to believe that a GS400 with any (mechanical) LSD could beat out an equivalently powered GS400 with TRAC.

TRAC takes significant power away from acceleration of the GS once you begin to break traction. No offense, but you've got a GS3 with no performance mods, so you probably don't experience this much except maybe in the rain.
Take for example when I pull out in traffic and hammer it with VSC turned on. If I give it enough gas at launch, TRAC/VSC will kick in and rob enough power that I'm in danger of getting hit (this happened to me on Sunday).
Now with the LSD (even with a performance torque converter), I can turn VSC off and accelerate with full gas and barely break traction.
Spinning wheels, no power even with gas floored, pulsing yellow light on dash = BAD
full power launch with traction hookup = GOOD

Completely agree; my point was that GS3 doesn't have quite as big a problem with traction as a GS4 (stock of course), so WW might not have had the opportunity to 'test' it himself as much.
