Default Just curious... Engine builds for IS250...

So i am a relativly new owner to the IS250 and Lexus world. I understand boltons are worthless on the IS250. Forced induction is an option (but with my AWD model ... not likely going to happen)

I have done a lot of browsing on this site and have not come across any threads about anyone actually doing an engine build....

im guessing this is because there really is no aftermarket parts (pistons, blocks, I/E manifolds, cams, Throttle bodies, etc..) is there?

Just wondering because buying a 2nd engine.... P&P heads, custom intake manifold and Exhaust manifold... custom headers... whatever else you can make happen.... $5k-$7k and still be spending less than forced induction....

any ideas?

^^^ Agreed.

If you planning on dumping over $5K on mods, you might as well gotten a IS350.

You can also go for 2006 gs300 3gr motor its low compression 10.5 , you can superchager or boost and it holds 7-9psi daily due high fuel pressure

.... i get it. Shoulda bought a 350. If i had a dollar for every thread I read comments that said "You should have got a 350".... i could buy the 350.

Also i have the AWD model so the 2JZ wont happen...

I just want to know if anyone has tried to P&P as well as do internal upgrades on the engine.

in less than 2 weeks im going to work for an engine builder, tuner, former NASCAR driver, shop owner, fabricator, etc..... I just want to know if anyone has done internal upgrades..

Not to my knowledge.

And there are some technical limitations to trying to do so as well... (to cite one example- the pistons are a very specific shape for a reason- they're designed to work with the stratified charge and the direct injection system... so swapping them for low compression dished pistons of another shape could potentially cause very serious issues). Further there's no tuning options available really, with the ECU heavily locked down and encrypted.

There's a reason everyone is saying you should've got a 350.

Even after the fact it's likely it'd be cheaper, and produce much better results, for you to get rid of your 250 and replace it with a 350.
