Is there anyone with a gs430 that has the ppe headers installed. Ive ran into a few problems like the drivers side cat touching the transmission case, and the Y pipe that bolts to the cats is 1/2 a inch to 1 inch to wide so i have to squeeze the y-pipe together to attach to the cats. Only problem then is that you can see the headers flexing and you can tell there is alot of stress on them. Also did everyone have to trim booth ends off the front hanger to get it to fit? Any help would be appreciated, ive been fighting with this for awhile.

Something is not right. Contact PPE. The S&S headers were the same for both the GS400 and 430s. Your pipes should not be misaligned and you are correct that the stress is not good and will eventually fail something.

here are some pics. First is cat hitting the transmisions. The cats have been tightenened to the headers. Where it is hitting the tranny is where the ground strap was, i had to remove the ground strap from the tranny bolt. Second two pics show when one flange is lined up how off the other flange is. and the forth shows even when the flange is lined up the angle of the flange is off.

Are you changing your whole exhaust including the resonator?

how does it compare to ss?

I'm thinking about learning some welding skills to get my 2nd gen ss to fit right and fix the crack.

Yep going motor - back. Only thing im keeping is the axle backs. It will be almost like your system, except my rear Y is alittle different & im installing new Magnaflow shorty cats, so that i can get my exhaust sitting back @ the stock hight. Its too low & scrapes sometimes.

So i got my straight piping in the other day, so I could have the custom Y pipe built. I take the 3pcs of pipe to a machine shop that I have done business with before. Im thinking they will probably give me a good deal right. I give him a picture of the Y pipe & a CAD drawing of it, with all the dimentions so that they can build it. He looks at me & says "do you know what you have here?" . I said yes. He says, what I ment to say was " do you know how much its gonna cost to build this". I said well I was hoping to get out for like $150 bucks. Oh its gonna be more than that. Leave the stuff with me & ill work up a quote & ill call you. About 2 hrs later he calls me & says its gonna be $350!!!! I went wow, well Im sorry but I cant afford to do that right now. I know that I could build this thing myself if I just had the right tools & place to do it. So I did. Made some phone calls & got is all worked out. Other than paying for the pipe $15 bucks & paying the welder guy $75, thats all I have in it. Here's the pics of the New Enter Y Pipe & the Exit Y pipe. All I lack now is the headers, which are suppose to have shipped already & the 6 mandrel 45's. Then its install time.

just got my replacement drivers side header on and the new design fit perfectly!. I didnt even have to modify the exhaust hanger on the transmission. Started it up today for the first time since october and it sounds great with the headers and tanabe but not loud in the car.
