It is one thing to build the basic Y section. Another all together to build a full bolt in part that fits, flanges, O2 bungs and all. I have not priced a stock pipe but it is likely over $500 for the catless 400 and probably over $1000 for the catted GS430. Then there are the wrecking yards... they do not sell cats but I would think a 400 pipe would be available somewhere.
I know but im not looking for another stock pipe. Im looking for a custom performance pipe. I already dropped ALOT of money into the car for performance parts this year.(https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-parts-in.html) All i need now is that pipe.

If someone wants to send me a stock Y pipe I may be able to jig it and plan a bolt in part. I would either re-use the stock flanges (which have the advantage of having the relief for the O ring seal) or have flanges cut which costs about $25/per flange x 3. I could use mild or possibly stainless (harder to cut and weld than mild and obviously more expensive)... and from there create the part. I will say it will not be cheap.

Slightly off topic, but I don't think by too much. With regards to the S&S headers shipped by PPE (Page 26 of this thread).....I'm under the impression that 2 are known to have cracked. 2 are unknown, and I'm sitting on the 5th set with plans to install in the next 4 to 6 weeks. Me thinks odds are, mine are going to crack too.

Would cladding the affected area be worth while? Or would it just crack someplace else? It's used in boilers, just row after row of weld beads and would seem to be a viable option. I've also not heard of anyone trying it on the 1G S&Ss.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey sakataj if you have an extra pipe you could send him so he could make a jig i would definatly buy a custom pipe off him (perferably stainless). I dont have an extra y pipe and being in canada they are very hard to come by.

Well maybe you should talk to Paul @ PPE & see if he will exchange them. That is they are still new in the box.

a competent and efficient technician should charge you no more than $500 for install.

We do have an updated version for the driver's side that fits better. I am going to have one of the guys build you a new driver's side header and get it coated for you asap. It should be back from coating next week and I will get it in the mail for you.

Thanks,
Paul
