With the car on, should be 13.2-14.5. With the car off should no less than 12.6 after a few minutes.

hey john, if i'm averaging 11.3 out of 12.6 should i be worried? I'm unsure about the accuracy of the cap, b/c i've seen it fluctuate in .5 swings regularly.

It was the alternator!!!

The optima was fine. That was the original 1999 factory alternator. 11+ years, not too shabby.
