Default intake

Okay im looking to buy a new intake. cool air intake preferred. Anyone willing to share some insight on which intake i should buy? I'm really looking for a deep, low sound. nice sounds at low rpms would be nice. I'm also on a budget, so cheap suggestions would be nice. dont get me wrong though, i dont want a piece of junk in my is just because im on a budget. I am about to order an HKS hi power exhaust system, so any intake that goes well with that would be nice as well. thanks

Well there are numerous topics about this already. As was already mentioned the Joe Z or F Sport are your best bet. If you're looking for more sound get the F sport. Joe Z won't add any sound unless you cut your airbox. There is no such thing as a cold air intake for our cars. The stock intake flows extremely well so there is no need to upgrade it unless you want the high flow pipe of the Joe Z or F Sport. Stay away from short ram intakes like K&N or Fujita or any other short ram intake brand. You WILL lose power primarily in the low end with these intakes and it's a noticable. You will get a lot more grunt and growl but at a sacrifice.

BTW, I don't think there's an intake that's loud at low rpm. You probably won't notice difference in sound level until you rev over 4K RPM... which is more in the mid to high rpm range.

Just get a Joe Z or F-Sport pipe... you can then cut holes in the lower airbox to increase the noise. If you don't want to cut holes, you can buy the entire F-Sport Air Intake set like what I did.

fsport for the sound
joe-z + fsport lower box (best deal imo)
joe-z + cut lower box for the budget

I don't think it's been definitively proven that any of the intake systems out there actually lose or gain anything. All the dynos that show some sort of "gain/loss" have all been within the window of variance that you would expect from one pull to the next anyway.

I don't think saying that power loss from a short ram intake is guaranteed is a fair statement.

as everyone has said you probably will not hear your intake until 3k+ rpm, i never heard a cut air box before so i can chime on that, but the full sport set up sounds like a beast, id recommend that
