Change your spark plugs if you haven't before! Also, advice needed
I'm probably the only one who went 100k without ever replacing spark plugs But I did last week and , What a difference! My car pulls pretty good! Keep in mind that this is my first car, and I don't know the importance of doing things like that, although it should be common sense. I also cleaned my TB and my maf sensor, so maybe that's why I also feel a difference. I have never done any maintenance on the car before (90k, 120K etc). What should I do asap? A friend advised to do water pump.
On a side note, my car started turning off on me for some reason. My catalyc converters were clogged and the car wouldn't accelerate at all maybe a month ago. I decided to have my muffle shop delete them, could this be a culprit? I started noticing right after that. I also ran a scan for CEL and I guess I have to replace the cables to the spark plugs, but the shutting off was before the sp change. Anyone else here NOT running Cats? I know its not enviromental friendly and some people will flame, but I dont want to spend 800.00 for that. If there is no other way, then I guess I will.
Thanks guys

Cat
If you didn't get either O2 Simulators or O2 De-Foulers installed on the 2 post-cat O2 sensors you will begin getting PO420 and PO430 Cat Inefficiency codes.
You should be getting cylinder mis-fire codes if any plug cables or ignition packs where bad..
What code(s) did you get when you scanned the car?

I cant recall, but I i think it's O2 sensor? I cant remember the code exactly. And I do intend to keep it forever, It hasn't given me any problem at all enginewise. Can any CATless owners chime in? There has to be someone else.

What more do you need to know? 99GS3 said it straight. I'm catless on my other car; you either install an o2 simulator or reprogram the ecu informing about the cat delete.
Yes your car is gonna throw codes with out cats (if thats what you're asking) its trying to read your emissions after the car and is getting screwy information. You have to do one of the above to get rid of that problem.
I think you need to have the mods change the title to your tread to something like, "who runs a catless GS" or something to that effect to narrow down your viewers

if all else fails and you dont want to delete it. universal cat's from magnaflow works pretty well, just have a muffler shop weld it in make a bung to fit the o2 if it doesnt have one and youre set. but if you decide to delete it the o2 simulator is a must to get rid of the cel's and your car to run properly. if you do a search on "Header install" youll find more info on o2 sim's to get a better idea of what is needed.

and since youre aiming for maintenance. do a timing belt job since ur at +100k & if I were you change the vvti sprocket while youre at it 136$ part (on sewell its the LH side one), it tends to leak after a timing belt job. i recently did mine and tried to get away with the sprocket to find out it started to leak and had the shop redo everything because i skimped out on it. theres a thread here for a easy "fix" for it but i preferred to get a new just for a peace of mind.
