Thinking about treating myself to these headers. A few questions first.
1. How exactly do the o2 extenders work and where are the o2 sensors Currently? I have the JoeZ race exhaust. These had bungs for some sensors, which sensors were those?
2. Is the ceramic coating really worth while? Talked to my friend with a z06 and he said didn't really do anything. To that extent is stainless worth while, especially for winters here in WI?
3. How much time should I have for a mechanic to install these?
4. How much louder is my car going to be with the JoeZ already, as well as, the f sport intake I have also? I can handle throatier but not ricier if that is even a word.
Thanks

those are good questions, you can find them on the ppe ehader thread but they arent 100% clear and unorganized.
ill try my best to answer what i can:
1. you have to drill a hole on your midpipe and weld on the "L" shape metal pice PPE provides, at the end of this L shape tube you will plug in the o2 sensor.
2. from reading around it traps the heat more efficiently inside of the headers, and therefore helping the air leave the engine faster since its hotter. its also better because it will avoid corrosion alot better..
3 some say a good mechanic should be able to install these in 4 to 5 hours.
4, sound its something subjective, but most ppl seem to say it will get louder.

Thanks, so can someone explain exactly how man O2 sensors there are and what goes where? I mean what is plugged into my JoeZ exhaust right now and where do those go once the headers are on??
I just need an IS350 Header/Exhaust O2 Sensor 101.
Thanks.

Your O2 sensors are plugged into your JoeZ exhaust. In order to avoid a CEL with the headers, PPE figured out a clever workaround.
Basically, you remove your O2 sensors from the JoeZ midpipe, seal the original sensor bungs, drill a new hole in the midpipe behind the original sensor bung, weld the PPE sensor extender over the hole, and attach the O2 sensor to the PPE sensor extender.
Moving the sensor away from the midpipe fools the CEL. The actual reason why it works is above my paygrade.

Talked to PPE, here is the deal.
Option 1: High Flow Cats. You cut out about 7" of the JoeZ exhaust and install the cat. Now the part you cut out has the O2 bung in it, so you have to drill and install a new bung and extend the cable slightly
Option 2: No Cats. You use the original JoeZ bung as the 'before' O2 sensor and install a new bung about 2" closer to the exhaust and use the PPE 'fooler' cable to trick the ECU into an acceptable reading.
Hope this helps everyone, it helped me.
