so HKS350.. Compared to the ppe header installation, how difficult was the supercharge install? On a scale of 1-10 (10 is most difficult), with the ppe header install being a 6.

Thanks.

The intercooler piping is made for any GSE21 platform. So I (think????) this is the IS350 and JDM Crown only. But other toyota/lexus cars may used the IS350 frame IDK?
Thanks everyone

But tuning the HKS is not easy. HKS does not provide the software to the public. You have to be a "HKS pro" tuner.

This is an issue for me b/c I can tune and have alot with past projects. But HKS wants a 30K buy in to become a "Pro dealer".

So the hardware costs will be @ $1200 but a tuning section will run about the same with a HKS Pro tuner. So you'll have $2400 in just a n/a tune.
Are you going to try and tune it from the pre-tune settings?

Hmmm,

PPE = 6
HKS S/C = 8
Motor Swap and build = 10

Its an 8 only because there is sooo much to do. Wiring, wire tuck on the motor, bumper removal, S/C install, F-con, cutting a 1" hole in the firewall for the F-con wiring hardness, tons more!!!!!!!!!!!!TONS.

SOrry you had to mar your lexus body but ya know, I found a way to get an entire 1/2" wiring harness, a 5/8" hose and a 1/2" hose through a small area from the radiator support to the intake area by removing a small piece of plastic from the left side of the radiator shroud and weaving the wire loom up and under the passenger headlight.

There doesnt seem to be any interference with the HID ballasts either.
So for anyone else that attempts something like this you may not have to drill through your car!

Dude, keep up the work. Does the pre-tune seem to be adequate? Would you consider taking it to a pro tuner for some refinements?

The HKS F-con has a base map that has 64 different settings that can be adjusted. The adjustments can be made via 8 dip switch combinations so a total of 64 possable tunes. All these do is change the base maps around. The HKS F-con monitors the engine data (rpm, timing, fuel% etc...) via the OBD2 port. When its plugged into the OBD2 port its in full time learn mode. When I like the tune I just unplug the F-con from the OBD2 and it will run that map.

The issue I'm having is I'd like to change the base mapping to speed up the tuning process but the cars tune is getting better the more I drive. So I'll most likely wait and see how the F-con does on its own. HKS pro dealer WILL NOT give me any info on the dip switches. This is what they change when you pay them to tune so its kinda there bread and butter to keep it to themselves.

As for the wiring going through the firewall. You have to get a harness about the size of your wrist/forearm into the cabin of the IS. So making your own hole is the only option. The HKS instructions show you where to do so and its very clean OEM'ish.

Kinda, I went to Walgreens and recorded it idling. You can hear the S/C pretty good. But its really crapy video.
I'm going Sunday to do some video footage. But for now here:
