Default Thinking of switching tires...which ones?

I am thinking of switching tires on my ride come the Spring/Summer after I get my SC installed.

I currently have Bridgestone RE0760 Sport:

Front 245/35/19; weight is 28lbs

Rear 275/30/19; weight is 30lbs

My options:

ExtremeContact DW
Front 245/35/19; weight is 21lbs

Rear 275/35/19; weight is 27lbs

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Front 245/35/19; weight is 24lbs

Rear 275/35/19; weight is 27lbs

Or please recommend a differet Make/Model

Two reasons for the change is:

1) I get no traction from the rear tires as is; this is probably due to the skinny sidewall of the 30 series tire...I am switching to a 35 series rear tire for a thicker sidewall. For a car without a high stall torque converter they are great tires though!

2) They are too heavy and a little noisy IMHO.

the pilots are the best choice but they wear quickly and are expensive. i was gonna get those exact tires but i didnt want them not to last so long so im gonna get the michelin pilot sport as plus which are ALMOST the same tire just last longer and cheaper

lol funny enough i later ended up with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's

Thanks Brian, but perhaps others can chime in as to if the Continental's are just a tick away from the PS2's...if this is true, then the Conti's are the best because they are 30% cheaper and last a little longer.

Anyone else?

March-November I currently run a set of Continental DWS (19X9 245/35-19, 19X10 275/35-19) and am VERY pleased wit hthe ride quality, quietness, and rain traction. Performance was NOT my main concern. This spring I'm most likely going to move to Continental DW's from all of the rave reviews I'm hearing everywhere including the performance shop I have my engine worked on and the general shop that does any other work needed. IMO, Continental DW is the best bang for your buck.

Here's a quick review for ya:

But i'd highly recommend the Michelin PS2's ESPECIALLY since you're going to be supercharged and need all the traction you can get! It will be worth the extra money, anyways why put all the money into supercharging you're car when you can't use the power anyway when you can't get traction?

I voted for Michelin's. I've been on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S for one summer and so far they are great. Quiet on the freeway and excellent rain traction.

umm....BS RE11?

I'd also look into the Ventus V12 also. Do you need M+S?

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my car and I absolutely love them except for the price. Not looking forward to replacing them.

I like the PS2's but people keep saying that they only get 10,000 miles out of them IF THEY ARE LUCKY! For superior grip but to get worn out that fast does not work for me. I would like to find something VERY comprable that will last a little longer.

BTW, with the more power thing (the supercharger) you are right but if worst comes to worst I'll just have to be more of a "rolling race" spirited driver.

Ahhh, the RE11. I was looking into this tire but the only thing is if feel that if I am going to go through the trouble of replacing all 4 current tires (of which my current tires have onlyu about 12-14 months on; if that) with new ones, I might as well go with a lighter weight brand. IIRC the RE11's are still 30-31lbs for the 275 rears. Whereas the Michelin's and the Continental's are only 27lbs; it would be nice to save a little bit of rotational weight as my forged wheels aren't the lightest in the forged wheel world. I'll probably leave Bridgestone off my list of choices.

As far as the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S; I havn't looked into these yet - I am sure they are good. But, If I am going to spend the extra dough on Michelin's I might as well just go with the PS2. I do not need ANY cold (below 40*) or snow/ice traction tires; these will be strictly on from April to Oct/Nov here in NY.
