Default f-sport intake question for IS250 owners

what differences does it make on your ride? sounded better or can you actually feel the performance increase (i highly doubt it). do i have to pair up the intake with f-sport exhaust or any other aftermarket catbacks? thanks.

You're talking an at-best difference of 5 hp. There will be no perceptible difference in performance.

There will be some more sound above 3k rpms though.

Your intake neither knows, nor cares, what exhaust you have

I like the nice low rumble at 3K rpm and up. I don't feel any noticeable difference in HP. With such a minimal increase (if any) I think differences would be all in my head. You dont "have" to pair it with anything, but if you like the f-sport exhaust drone, you can obviously install that as well.

I prefer the Lexus HKS exhaust sound to the current F-sport exhaust, but it's hard to find since it's discontinued .

Anytime I see an article that shows a power gain from Magic Spark Plugs I'm curious how much the plug maker paid the magazine to run it.

When I installed my f-sport intake on my IS350 I noticed a sucking sound at high RPM's, but that was about it.

Based on that article, it looks like the F-Sport Intake has the best bang for the buck compared to the exhaust in terms of HP gains. I'm surprised that F-Sport exhaust only net 1.7 HP gain.

Anyway, I love my intake and the response of the engine seem to be better. I love the sound when it hits 4K+ RPM. The purr turns to a deep growl.

Yeah, that growl (or deeper growl) with a new intake is like music. No matter what kind of car you have, ya gotta love it. I just slapped on an AFE stage 2, I'm lovin it. And as for the tested specs from the article, for me it wasn't so much the HP gain as it was the cost for it all. I figure if you do all that for +7hp, try to get it as cheap as possible. I'm thinkiiiiing...less than 500 maybe?

There are no (commercial) cold air intakes for the 2IS as you'd have to drill through the bumper.

Your choices are stock-location airbox (which is at least "colder" air since it's a sealed-ish box) like the Joe Z or F-sport or a "hot air" short ram.

I just got the FSport intake on my 250.... Heres the thing, performance wise... I can barely tell the difference... maybe acceleration is a little bit better but thats probably just all in my head (considering it cost me $400 that i want to believe was well worth it)... sound wise... it sounds amazing over 3k RPM's... the rumble is quite noticeable compared to the stock intake.
