Default TRD or K&N Air Filter or ???

Anyone out there put the TRD or K&N drop in Airfilter in their GS400 yet? I am looking at getting one...I have K&N in all of my other vehicles and have considered both the TRD and the Amsoil filters...both are very good...just not sure if I want to keep two different kinds of oil and two different kinds of cleaner around as both are different (the TRD and the K&N) and both of those filters are completely different in style and manufacture than the Amsoil which uses foam instead of cotton gauze...

I personally don't think there is a difference between the TRD and the K&N, the one that is really different is the Amsoil filter...

I am not really interested in changing out the intake and running a cone filter...sounds nice and all, but the wife drives it most of the time and she's not interested in it...

Anyway, the part number for the TRD is 17801-JS610 (TRD part #) or 17801-46080 (Toyota part #) and runs about $84.00 (http://www.l-tunedparts.com/html/partsordering-trd.html) while the K&N part number is 33-2137 and runs about $35.00 (http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...get=search.asp). The Amsoil part # is AF1075 and runs about $20.00 (http://www.amsoil.com/).

What are you all running? Post an answer in the poll...

Thanks

Bryan

Can't vote since I have the SRT Intake, but Bitkahuna has the TRD drop in I believe, so hopefully he can chime in at some point, or you can PM him.

OEM cotton filter works the best.

I have the K&N drop in. Went from 21 to 23 MPG's as previously posted some time ago. L Tuned Exhaust brought to 24MPG's.

Seems the same threads keep coming around and around.

I cleaned my K&N out a week ago and it traps so much more dirt than a stock filter it's not even funny. Great way to spend $40. They say you get better performance etc but I did not dyno before and after.

Little known fact, since it is warrentied for 1 million miles, for the 30-60-90k service, you don't need to replace this filter, saving you like $70 every time.

For drop-in, definitely get K&N.

For aftermarket intake with no ECU, Injen.

Hi gang:

I'm sure most of you read this article online.... K&N Bites the Dust - AMSOIL 2-Stage Air Filter Dusts The Competition!

Just wondering if this is true, why aren't CL members buying Amsoil Air filters? So far, this poll's result favors K&N and OEM filters.

Debating on the K&N? I'd skip.. had my car dyno'd and the K&n took away power.

-I assume that the ecu was not reset and allowed to "learn" the increased air flow from the K&N???? 10 Hp loss seems like a lot. this same issue came up with Mean Gene's dyno regarding the Torquemaster plugs.

Right but you were talking about a K&N INTAKE, not just a drop in filter. I have a drop in filter in my car and certainly no loss of power.

I agree, I have a K&N drop in and it feels like there is more power then before. Gas mileage has gotten better also. Big concern with the prices where they are now. Best $40 I have spent in a while.
