Hi everybody,
I'm the proud owner of an IS220d with 177bhp and 400N/m.
After installing a plug and play diesel tuning box the car runs at 220bhp and460N/m.
I'm looking to install a bigger intercooler now because the standard one is very small and hidden under the wheelarch and hardly any cool air reaches it.
I would like to know what dimensions have the intercoolers fitted to the super/turbo charged IS250/IS350 models and how difficult was to pass the pipes from the front area to the engine so that I can connect it to the original 2,5 inch pipes.
I prefer not to do huge modifications on the front, cutting parts of bumper or frame, there seems to be a lot of space in there and one of these universal ICs could fit easily but I need to know what size to buy.
I have been looking at these ones.

I'm going to paint it all black and I will try to match the color of the area behind the lower front grill so that nobody notices it.
What I'm hoping is to drop the air intake temperature and increase the power to 230 bhp.
Any feedback or comments will be highly appreciated.

this model is very popular in Europe.
It has a 4 cylinder, 2,2 litre, turbocharged diesel engine.
The bhp output isn't huge (177) compared to the IS250 (208) but it has huge ammount of torque (400N/m) when the turbo kicks in.
With the installation of a diesel tuning chip/box you can easily get another 40 - 50 bhp. See www.race-chip.de or www.draketuning.com
Chassis wise the car is identical to the IS250, the only differences I can think is the engine, exhaust (single exit) and transmission (6 speed manual only).

yup got stationed here in germany last year, didnt see a lexus here for a while. first 1 i saw was the IS220d. lexus in general from what it seems is not very popular here, so the IS is a big head turner here. but the intercoolers your looking at seem to be a decent fit, and for the price id entertain it and see what kinds of results you get from it.
