Without a power flush it is hard to remove all of the old fluid. However, sometimes when a flush is done it causes transmission problems. There is lots of speculation as to why those problems have happened but I've never seen anyone with direct proof that the flush caused the problems. The drain and fill method will eventually remove enough of the fluid though. My question to you is why do you feel you need to run fluid other than Toyota T-IV fluid?

I'm sure Amsoil is a good product but transmissions, particularly Toyota transmissions are very particular about the fluid they like. I've never had issues with the T-IV so I would recommend you stick with the tried and proven (T-IV).
