Default Anyone here with an Invidia Midpipe?

I might get an Invidia Midpipe from a local person but had some questions.

1. Anyone install it themselves? Was it a lot of work?
2. Will installing it cause a CEL?
3. Any tips or warning I should know of?
4. Do I need to remove the O2 sensor?

Also got emissions inspection next month lol. Thanks if you help out!

1. Not a ton of work but w jackstands and a helping hand it can be done.
2. No CEL
3. The o2 sensor is in a PIA location.
4. Yes you need to remove 2.

Check out the thread i made for when I installed it. I love mine w just the stock axle back. A nice subtle change. Let me know if you had the same issue as me. My pipes were banging on the lower brace bar. I ended up replacing the spring bolts w fixed bolts and used washers to move my brace bar lower, giving me more clearance. I purchased my pipes new.

Alright cool, I'll check back if I get it and install it. Where exactly is the O2 sensors located at?

Towards the front of the midpipe, they aren't hard at all if you have the right deep socket...

I installed the midpipes by myself. I'm a loner.

1. Anyone install it themselves? Was it a lot of work?
Simple unbolt and bolt procedures. Requires lots of elbow grease.
I had mine on jackstands and it was good enough for me. About half way through unbolting the pipes, I cried (not literally) and went to borrow my dad's impact gun. Piece of cake from then on.

2. Will installing it cause a CEL?
Not if done correctly.

3. Any tips or warning I should know of?
One thing that freaked me the heck out that I was not aware of: the first time driving your car after installation, you will notice white smoke from your rear and an frightening foul smell coming from it, I guess it's normal.
Use an impact gun to cut the install time in half, save yourself from knicks, bruises, frustration and tears.

4. Do I need to remove the O2 sensor?
Yes. Long walled one. And get yourself a breaker bar.

I may have pics you are looking for. I took pics during my install for a DIY but got too lazy half way through.

I had this exact same thing happen to me when I installed my cat-back... I freaked out just like you. The place I got my cat-back from said they would have been more concerned if it didn't do that for the first little bit.

Well, I picked up the midpipe today. Got me a used one for $200 from a member here on CL. I'll try to do the install tomorrow.

Done the midpipe by myself as well. You might need new crush gaskets for the front two flanges since you got it used. Rear donut gasket is usually okay to reuse.

Good luck.

1. Yes. A lift makes things 10x easier, as does a helping hand.
2. If done right, no.
3. Don't kill yourself working under your car when it's on nothing but jackstands.
4. Yes, and you need a special O2 sensor removal socket, which you can get from most auto parts stores.

Wait until you pass emissions, then install the midpipe.

Do you know where to get those front crush gaskets? Or an OEM part number?

I think you can ask a local muffler shop and they should have them. They've got all sizes and sell them for around $5 (atleast the shop near me did).

You can find the crush gaskets at any local auto parts store. The person I purchased the midpipe from gave me one extra and told me I can find them at O'Reily for about $6.

I'm installing the pipe when I wake up tomorrow at like 10. My plan is to remove the two braces underneath, remove the back two bolts, then the front four, have the pipe on the floor and remove the O2 sensors and reverse the process. Does this sound about right? Also, what do you people mean by "doing it right", I won't get a CEL?
