1.) no, you wont be able to use the joe z pipe design because it wont be long enough. This system was engineered from the ground up on its own. The pipe length was specifically tuned to maintain the max output at 4800 rpms just like stock.

2.) yes, you should see similar gains in an IS250, as the motors are very similar. I will be doing a test fit and dyno on an is250 in the near future and I'll keep everyone updated.

ok guys, I'm trying to finalize my parts list and I've come across a conundrum. So I'll let you guys chime in.

I must find a replacement for the stock draw latch that comes on the stock top. It was specifically designed and made by toyota so finding an exact replacment is not going to happen. So far I have found two options, of which I'm not very thrilled with either.

Would you rather a latch that will push the cost up slightly: http://www.aboveboardelectronics.com.../5-1-3-1-2.htm

Or something very inexpensive and not near as elegant, like a plastic c -clamp to hold that corner of the intake housing to the oem bottom:
http://www.amazon.com/C-Clamp-Mini-V.../dp/B000BRFGHE

A third suggestion is to simply remove the one from your stock top and place it on the new housing. It take 30 seconds with some needle nose pliers. The mount dimensions are the same so it would work well except that its an added labor step that may put some people off the product.

It's only that single latch at the front corner closest to the radiator I need a solution for. The other latches are secured to the oem lower and will latch correctly to the new hood sealed upper housing.

Not that I am an expert at product analysis or consumer needs, but some questions that might help us decide.

1. When you say drive up the cost, what will be the price difference of the two clips?
Some might not care if the difference isnt huge and might want the more fancy clip.

2. MY suggestion is, since you say its easy. If your able to make a DIY for the removal of the OEM latch and putting it on your system that will help. Specially if its something that can be done in 5 minutes and ofcourse if it isnt extremly difficult.

I am really excited to test out the intake!

price difference of about 10 dollars between the latches. Everything is expensive these days

I honestly think the most elegant solution is to reuse the stock clip. It's only held in there by compression and a simple tug on one side with some needle nose will make it apparent how it comes off and back on.
I do understand though, that some people expect to have a brand new everything without having to do anything unusual during installation.

I've been running my prototype for months now while using the stock latch and it looks like it belongs, well, because it does.

I agree and I think not many people will care, as long as the intake comes with provided instructions on how to PROPERLY replace the latch from the OEM box to your system.

I still strongly vote for you to ship me out one and let me be the guinea pig

I also agree with this. Just provide instructions.

And I also wouldn't mind being the guinea pig, lol

Like has been said, provide instructions for reusing the stock latch. Then you can also offer the other latch as an add-on for more money...

I would be interested provided all of the factory plastic engine covers fit back on. I do not like the look of the engine bay without them on.

Yes, updates.

We finally got the business registered after fighting with the Secretary of State's Office and some self appointed Engineering and surveying board over the name of the business. After dealing with that for a while, I decided to take the path of least resistance and just rename the business.

I've also nailed down the remaining costs. The price WILL be under 300 and even more so in the group buy.

We having some meetings with banks and grant writers in the coming weeks so with a little luck, we'll be up and running in no time.
