To anyone who has installed the TM plugs themselves....
so i get my plugs on wed (actually got 6, but gordon fedex'd the other two the next day ) and decided that i would put them in today as i visited my father in the country. a little background...my car has recently just passed the 60k mark and i was noticing that it would hesitate a little as the engine climbed through the revs. so i take the old plugs out (not that hard of a job) and notice that every single plug had the diode/electrode worn out to a point. i mean it was so severe that the diode looked like a needle point. installed the new plugs and oh boy what a difference. the car feels like a different animal. i had posted in another thread that i could not get the car to spin from a dead stop without brake-torqueing. no more, this things hauls now. but my question is, is this a normal phenomenon to have the plugs worn so bad after only supposedly 30k miles? or could they have not been changed since the car was new? that could explain the abnormally low dyno readings that i was getting back in april or may. ill post pics of the plugs tomorrow b/c i am stuck on a 28k modem w/ no camera. let me know you guys experience....

that is normal
The needle looking plugs are exactly how the stock should look, All Iridium plug as tinny head. I don' think your stock ignition can wear out the irdium plug. There are nothing to worry about. Are all the plug browish (little red) and dry, if they are, your engine is in good shape.

thanx for the reply. that was one of the things that confused me. the plugs werent black and corroded like they had been there for a while. actually pretty clean. but like you said, a little brown. i guess ill put on some shoes and go see if i was imagining the improved performance although i did reset the ECU. anyway, be right back

Doc,
When you reset the ECU, it takes the computer around 150 to 200 miles to learn the new parts. Anything prior than that mileage is not very accurate. I also put in my TM plugs at around 30k and they look exactly like what you have described.
I could definitely feel the difference but at the same moment I also clean the intake filter which add in another factor for the gain.
