Default harsh downshift?

When I have a 2000 GS400 and it seems that like once a week the tranny gives me a harsh downshift and kicks back when goin from 3rd to 2nd gear. I actually feel the car jolt. Anyone experience this??

Only when the transmission is cold and when I am going downhill and press the brake midway the hill. After that everything is smooth when warmed up.

Hey Play~

I had a similar problem with my Lex. It would give a harsh downshift at times, or wouldn't upshift on the freeway. The dealership ended up replacing my tranny and the Torque converter. See if your car does this: Drive slow like 15 mph while in D. Next, put the car in neutral and give it a little rev. See if your car jerks like mine did. If so, you may have the same problem I had. Hope this helps.
