I have the tanabe and had the M2 and both are loud enough, what your thinking of just seems to say "hey look at me, i'm cool".
Since when has getting an exhaust on your car become obnoxious?
And when I said 'trying to make my car as loud as possible,' I'm just looking to get the best bang for the buck. I don't want to spend, say, $900 on an F-sport exhaust when a $400 HKS sounds much better.

Thanks for your input though.

sounds like you really don't know what you want as these are two different things. The HKS is louder sure, but it is nowhere near as refined as the F-Sport. You get what you pay for. F tips look a lot more befitting the IS too rather than the cannons found on the HKS. For what its worth the F-Sport exhaust traces it's beginnings to the Lexus HKS set-up which is now discontinued. Here's a list for you to mix and match:

Exhausts:
Axle Backs:
- Tanabe
- Lexus HKS
- HKS Hi-Power
- F-Sport
- Wald
Cat Backs:
- LMS
- Fujitsubo
- Megan
- Jun-TW
- Borla
- Greddy
- JoeZ

Headers
- PPE Engineering
- Mazzuri
- Megan
- JUN-TW

Midpipes:
- Megan
- Invidia
- Tanabe (supposedly working on one if not out yet)

Other options:
- Test pipes (straight) - custom

Intake, PPE headers and a complete straight pipe (no resonators, cats or mufflers). That would be the absolute loudest but it would sound very raspy.

Minus the header option....
Would think that a custom exhaust, with two Apexi N1 or a Mini Muffler (blox makes one) is pretty loud no cat, no resonator, is pretty loud..

Remembering in the Subaru world, the Apexi N1 was pretty loud and then there was the buddy club exhaust, my friend has one his ITR EG, thing can be heard for miles LOL!

and also remember as well, when my friend ran a mini muffler, straight pipe no cats....oh wow was that loud

Yet for the most loudest exhaust, I would say aftermarket header, complete catless, no resonator, matched up with any muffler its still going to be loud as hell...

For a while I had the HKS, Invidia, and AFE intake. It was the loudest set up I've heard. Now I have a 5zigen a-spec with the invidia and AFE ; its a bit quieter but sounds so much better in my opinion

^ Most of the videos i've watched of the invidia make it super loud but it sounds like its farting to me. I'm really happy with the ppe headers myself, it increased the volume ALOT (mind you from the inside of the car with all of the sound dampening you'll never truly hear your exhaust, get out and have someone else drive it) and gives it a very metallic I"M KILLING THE OZONE sound which i <3
