Default Cold Air Intake Question!

Hey guys, I plan on buying a F-Sport Cold Air Intake from Sewell, is it something I should get? Also anyone that has it installed is it something that I would notice? Is there a ISF Cold Air Intake or is it the same thing as the F-Sport ? Thank you

The IS-F uses an entirely different engine... some people mistakenly call F-sport parts IS-F parts for some reason.

Anyway, you won't notice the power gain, no intake gives more than 5 hp. You'll notice some additional sound above 3k rpms.

A cheaper option for the same gains is buy the Joe Z intake pipe for $125 (which the F-sport pipe is basically a copy of) and then just cut a hole in the stock lower airbox to look like the F-sport lower airbox.

I bought the F-Sport intake from sewell a little while back. They have the installation instructions on their website here. These directions are on point and it was a easy DIY

I haven't heard the Joe-z in person but you can't go wrong with lexus parts on a lexus.

FYI: the F-sport intake is not a "Cold air intake" system.

well.... it's colder air than any other (other than the Joe Z) intake provides.... but yeah a "true" cold air system that's pulling from down below the engine would require cutting down through bumper support metal for the air tube.

That's the system I run in my Integra, it's an old school Iceman Cold air intake.

I'm looking to get an intake for my 2006 IS 350...any suggestions on what brand of intake? It's my first Lexus. I have a 2002 Eclipse GT V6 and I had a Prototype Fujita MA intake in it.

Welcome to CL. You can do a search on intakes, there are many. There is the ones mentioned above. Joe Z , F Sport, Fujita, injen, K & N. The cheapest with most HP gains is Joe Z. Some people put in an F Sport filter or an HKS filter in the stock air box with the Joe Z intake pipe.

I should try and make my own cold Air extension as there is plenty of room in corner of the bumper for it.

I ran the AMG/Fujita prototype for few weeks and was happy with it. It was on my 2011 is350. At the time their dyno was not up and runnign so no dyno pulls to compare between stock vs intake. Im currently running the k&n and also happy with that one. You might to call fujita and fing out about availability.

Joe-Z: http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=2804 Read the comments if you want it polished. They also offer a blue anodized. All are priced at $125.

F-Sport: http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2006/1793.html Be sure to register as a CL member for discounted pricing (comes out to $302.50 from $455.) This includes the F-Sport lower airbox. You can order just the pipe and coupling for about $175 here: http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2006/1853.html
