Stock LSD ratio
Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know the stock LSD ratio for the 2002 GS300? I heard that it might be 3:99. I'm planning to get a TRD LSD. But, I won't get it if the ratio is less then the stock LSD. Any info is appreciated.

There is NO LSD for stock GS300. It's just an open differential. The ring gear ratio is 3.24 not 3.99.
The TRD LSD unit is just the clutch part, you need to re-attach the stock ring gear to it when swapping out the open unit. So you keep the stock 3.24 gear ratio.

Stylin,
As AgGS400 recommended, you want the Torque Converter if you want to get rid of lag off the line. The LSD will only put power to both wheels but won't change the lag you have from a standstill. Eventually you want both though, at least with the GS4xx it's needed.

If you ask me, the TC and the LSD should be a package upgrade. The TC make it so you can break the rear tires free any time you want and the LSD will help with traction when cornering.
If you want more power, go with the TC. If you want better cornering potenial go with the LSD.

Actually guys, the GS 300 does come with a different factory gear ratio... I believe it is in the neighborhood of 3.9. That info comes straight from a head Lexus mechanic. FYI

Dunno
Have no idea about whether the gears are mechanically interchangable but you're right that the 3.92 would increase speed - the speed that gets you (prematurely) to redline. There's been some posts about that problem even with the 3.76 ratio. Even if it would fit, I don't think that it would be a realistic option.
Banana - I know that you know that - thought that others may not.
BTW, any Texas guys who might be interested in an RMM LSD trade-out have an opportunity - would cost $1,000 (offer less) plus install. Jimy at Davenport Motors has a guy with a GS4 who wants to swap out his RMM (with 3.76) for a stock one - he wants $1,000 difference, but I'd offer less. He has an offer for the $1,000 from out of town - he'd take less from a local guy that could put the other GS up on a rack next to the RMM GS and make an immediate swap. If anybody's interested, pm me and I'll give you phone number for contact. BTW, RMM LSD is $1,699 new.

call Toyota up, I believe that the supra tt auto LSD (which is the same as RMM unit, cost around $750 brand new, a friend of mine got it from a junk yard for $500. $1600 is too over priced.
don't quote me on it, call toyota and ask

No, not for me!
No way guys – not none o’ me, I’m just passing along information in case anyone else is interested – I wouldn’t buy that unit at all – I’ll go with the Supra unit with the standard 3.27 or possibly wait for the Powertrax reviews (Jbrady postings) before I pull the trigger. And it is listed on RMM’s website at that price (retail).
