Default is250 rwd or awd?

hey,

I am curious, I just purchased a 2006 is250, and am not sure if its awd or rwd. I dont have the manual on me, is there a definite answer for this? There is no "performance" package on it, I believe it is a bare bones 06 250.

after doing some reading i'm surprised to find that there are RWD auto is250's, and you might have one? i've never encountered one up here in the northeast... sounds like the RWD ones get great mileage too

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't u check the rims spec. Square setup for AWD an staggered for RWD. Assuming it has not been swapped.

According to this the rwd auto can still have a square setup with staggered optional

Not quite...

Staggered wheels are optional

But RWD model has staggered tires in all cases.

Personally I can't understand how someone spends 20-30 grand on a car without knowing what they're buying though...

There was a thread about this a little while ago on the main Second Gen board. Please use search for these kinds of questions.

A) if there's an IS250 badge, and it doesn't say AWD. Chances are 95% that it's RWD.
B) If you look behind your front wheels and don't see an axle and CV joints, shafts, and the lot, you have a RWD.

So you just went to the lot and said "give me that one"? I don't see how this happens, even the paperwork where you sign should have had something about your car model? parents buy it or what?

When you drive a 98 v6 beat up mustang for 7 years (first car), and see a craigslist add for a 250 with 80k miles on it for 15 grand, and are in the market for something nice, sometimes you dont ask those questions, just sayin.

the differences between the two (rwd and awd) is night and day (supposedly), so i still dont know why on earth you or anybody would buy a car unknowing to what car model it was. When you're ready, you can by my "IS-F"...

Now get under your car and figure it out, it's not that hard...

Is there a large bulge jutting close to where the driver uses the brake/accelerator?
