Does anyone know of a good performance chip for the GS300? I have been sorely disappointed with the performance of my GS300. I know it is a V-6, but I had honestly expected better from Lexus. I get 18-19 miles per gallon which sucks as well. My BMW 645Ci has a V-8 and it gets 20 mpg so I am hoping that there is something that will improve the performance of my GS300. Any ideas?

There aren't really any performance chips for our car that u can use. But try getting an intake for ur car. That might help wit mpg

Thanks for the response. Can you give me a little more insight into what you mean by intake? I am hoping you are referring to an intake/air filter and not an intake manifold. Either way if you know of any additional details it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's not a V6 it's an inline 6. You might should have done some research on the GS before purchasing it if mileage and speed was important to you. Because neither are good with in a these cars, GS300's are bought because they have have nice interiors, good exterior styling, and are very comfortable to drive. The GS400/430 would have satisfied the urge for a bit more power, and the gas mileage is about the same as the 300.

Turbo can help if you ever go that route, as my last trip out of town I got about 29mpg, and my car makes more than enough power to have no worries from M5's or any similar **** like that.

The SRT intake alone does give a couple HP, but not any real increase in mileage, and headers will make a small difference in power and may be worth doing. Rear section/catback exhaust do nothing for performance, they just make the car sound much better. But if you pair headers with a full catback exhaust and any standard intake and use a SAFC or NEO with a tune you'll have noticeable increase in power. You can by all the parts above for around $1500~ish and up, not including any install fees if you can't do it yourself, nor the price of getting it tuned.

Yeah Toyota ecu's are different than Diesel trucks and Mustangs, no plug in chips or Banks programmers here. And intakes don't do anything but make noise on these cars as well, they don't really help power or gas mileage unlike speed density honda motors that a simple intake works wonders on.

^^^I agree that if you do one single mod, the SRT/ECU kit is one thing that will make a difference in power and is worth the $500~ to be plug and play if you don't plan on making more power down the road.

If you start going further with a -FULL- exhaust, head work, etc it's more beneficial for maximum power to go piggyback and a custom tune. And once you go that route the SRT ECU is not needed and that was the only real difference between the SRT intake and any other pipe/filter you can get for hundreds less.

The car is too much of a pig for a 6 cylinder (non modified that is) maybe carbon fiber hood, trunck li, and any other thing you can think of to reduce weight. That is why you get the same mileage as the v8 power to weight ratio.

I'm looking to add a FULL exhaust to my car as well. Since I can't really afford to get turbos or superchargers.

I did a video testing the acceleration performance of my 06 Gs300 AWD

I tested 0-60, 0-80, 0-100, and 0-120mph on a closed road.


Overall I'm satisfied with my GS, but I do have a modified 99 Mustang Saleen to play around with as well Lexus needs to do some AMG / F Sport upgrades to the GS line

So what is a SRT intake? I have only seen the Weapon R intake system? any website suggestions for aftermarket stuff?

Yes its definitely worth it. You'll see MPG increases well as power gains.
