Default HKS Hi-Power exhaust 07 is250

Hey guys, I'm not a car genius, but I was planning on buying a used HKS Hi-power exhaust system from some guy with a 2006 is350, my car being a 2007 is250 will there be any problems with the change because of the model/year?

Also the main thing is that I was warned by my local mechanic is that since I am trading my stock exhaust for the HKS exhaust that is could be really bad for me? Since I don't have the stock exhaust anymore and apparently in BC, Canada I won't be able to pass "inspection" if I am ever caught? He highly recommended me not to do it and that he would refuse the work at his shop.
I don't really understand why hes so reluctant on the idea of the HKS Hi-Power exhaust, all it is is removing the stock exhaust and screwing in the new exhaust right?
Now he has me worrying about switching... so can anyone explain why this would be bad? Like I understand many of you guys have HKS exhaust, greddy, etc.

keep your stock exhaust and pay for the HKS exhaust,
I wouldnt swap because when you need to get rid of the car , stock parts will be needed.

1. there won't be any issues because of the model year.
2. your mechanic is not inclined to do the work because he does not want the liability coming back to him if you are pulled over and cited for it or can not pass inspection.

All exhaust will fit any model year 250/350 so dont worry about that. Emission testing varies by state (and country) so it all depends. There wont be any negative effects of the exhaust since its just a bolt on (assuming it was installed correctly)

I do know that emission testing in Canada is strict, my gf almost had issues because the exhaust on her civic has a crack and is an issue apparantly. Just make sure you keep your stock exhaust so you can swap it out to pass emissions

Thing is the guy needs an exhaust if I buy his HKS exhaust because he never kept the stock exhaust. And I don't have enough money to buy a brand new HKS Hi power exhaust.

So if I do trade exhaust for exhaust it'd be quite a big risk for me im assuming because im losing an OEM part for an after market?

If I were you, I would keep my stock echaust.

Just wait for one to show up in the classifieds. They come up from time to time, patience is key

So doesn't matter year or model, the HKS exhaust for (let's say) a 2007 IS350 would work for 2009 IS250 AWD even though year is different and one is RWD as other is AWD?

Thanks in advance, as I need to know before I purchased a used part!

Not sure if anyone is interested but I have to sell my IS250 and I am letting my HKS hi power exhaust go for $400. I live in Riverside, Ca. Need to sell it asap, so if anyone is interested, please send me a message. It's only been on my car for 5 months and it looks amazing, no damage. Thanks!!
