Question K&n fipk cai

Hi guys, I recently bought the K&N FIPK CAI and my only main concern is hydro locking. I have read in other forums that to really have the engine hydro lock, the filter has to be submerged under water. My question is would the oil on the filter reflect a couple drops or really small splashes? And is it necessary to buy a filter cover? i dont want to reduce the air flow by buying a cover.. I suppose the FIPK is considered a Short Ram if that is right? but anyways thanks for your help!

Dont drive your car into deep water and you wont have any problems.....I wouldn't even worry about it....you don't have a cold air intake

I have had the K&N FIPK intake for almost a year now, and I love it, it makes the car sound amazing, and my dad who gave me the car, took it out for a ride after I put the intake on and he said it felt a little quicker, but I didn't really notice a performance increase.

But on to your question about hydro-locking, I have gone through a wisconsin winter, with no troubles, and lots of rain throughout the year, driving through puddles.. etc, nothing ever happened. Because the air intake for our cars sits on top of the engine bay as opposed to those who get the air from near the bottom of the bumper, I don't think we are really at risk.

Sweet! Thanks a lot, I've had the intake on for Maybe 3 weeks now and love it, the gas pedal became a lot more sensitive with the intake, love it!
