Talking dude you're gettin' a TC!

I know others have been there for a while but this Precision Industries torque converter upgrade is AWESOME. E-shift is much less important now as the car stays up in the rpms more easily.

I lit up my 275 rears from a stop (just a chirp) with about 3/4 throttle input I'd guess. I couldn't light 'em up at all before. The car is MUCH more responsive in all situations because the rpms move up to peak power delivery so nicely PLUS, all those who find the stock trans doesn't downshift quickly enough, well it seems to downshift more promptly now - it's GREAT!

Short of forced induction this must be the best performance mod.

Thanks Santa.

Special thanks to VVT-i for doing the install at Hennessy Lexus.

ARG!

I want one so bad! How much? $900 plus install?

I think my car has too many miles to add such a performance part. (150K)

About that, yes. I got my TC at the group buy rate from Carson.

I think it should still work.

There's no doubt that it will go in and do it's job..but the amount of extra wear created from the increased frequency of downshifts and engine revving will increase the wear on the engine and transmission a lot.

The benefit is a new torque converter..mine is the original and has 150K of wear and tear. It frequently engages and disengages while on the freeway which I find really annoying. It creates this lag before the car actually moves when I push the gas.

If I were to get the dragon TC I'd probably set it not too much higher than the stock 1800-1900 RPM stall. Maybe 2100 or 2200.

Is yours at 2800?

Bit..your welcome and I'm really impressed of the performance. When I test drove it I can't believe how quick your car respond.

Don't forget a tranny cooler. Definitely a must with this upgrade. Don't put it off for later either. Sweet setup. I know you'll enjoy it

Thanks - I like PearlPower's one with the steel pipes - what do you think? I'd get the black cooler though - don't need the bling bling polished one behind the grill.

I agree. To be honest, any decent tranny coller will get the job done. Good luck with your new setup and be sure to post some pics when you get it

...how much is a 3200 rpm stall convertor for the 5-speed auto tranny worth from Level10? I have one sitting in my garage after 3 months of trial and error from Level 10. Never been used prior to testing at Level10. FYI, the torque convertor is different between the Supra/Aristo and the GS/LS series.

I finally got my PI TC (2800) installed, and let me tell you it does make a difference. In normal traffic driving I was not all too impressed. It felt the same as before, but when I finally got some room and floored it going about 10 mph, I managed to chirp my tires when my car shifted into second gear. I never thought I would be able to do that. Tomorrow I will get out and really see what she can do.

Many have said get a tranny cooler. I'm not really sure it's necessary, but I figure it can't hurt, and hey, it's another mod, right? (I'm addicted!) I've ordered mine but it's not in yet. I'm not worried about driving the car since the outside temp's been near freezing lately!

No other upgrades needed. I have a TRD LSD waiting to go in if I can ever hook up with someone I feel comfortable can do it.

Good luck!! It took me two months to find someone I felt comfortable intalling my LSD.

Gstt: Bitkahuna is right. No one know if a tranny cooler is really necessary, but it is a cheap install, so why not do it. The number one killer of transmissions is overheating, and a higher stall TC will cause the tranny to run hotter. The factory tranny cooler is probably big enough to handle the extra heat without a problem, but it is better to be safe then sorry.
