had the tanabe on the 99gs300, loved how it sounded on load. later added the megan y pipe, made it sound a little bit more raspier and throatier...

the same tanabe but on an 01gs430, first v8, thought my car was f***ed up, but the odd rumble is suppose to be normal! either way, sounded good. now installed the megan y pipe modded from an sc430. it quiet it down, but the growl is coming back with the pipe "breaking in". however, now it has a mid-to-high pitch rasp noise on load at 5500+ rpm. friend thought i boosted the motor...

I removed those 2 long resonators on my 400, kept the one just after the Y. Cabin sound hardly changed, just a bit louder when you step on it. Gives it a decent growl from outside though.

Dude im straight piped! Idk if its the same noise we are talking about but at idle i hear a slight popping noise and i though it was coming from the engine till i put my ears next to the exhaust. And at 5k also mine gets a little raspy and sounds like the new rams with straight pipes. Mines completely silent at idle and purs around 2k i love it lol

To answer your question, Yes i regret trying out 4 different set ups before going back to OEM..
I agree. I had a pair of 5Zigen Megas with a resonator delete, no gains. Same set of Megas on GTE swapped GS430 with a full 3" DP, major gains and relatively quiet I might add. Same Megas just bolted on to the stock exhaust piping on a 300, a little sluggish during mid range but had a nice quiet tone. I'd prefer axle backs on the stock GS300 just for the subtle tone.

Thumbs up no drone from resonator delete

Hello, I have a GS4 and wanted it to sound like a V8. I had a local muffler shop delete the 3 resonators and keep the stock mufflers. Sounds GREAT and not loud at all in cabin...no drone. Easy mod and worth it

Has anyone seen any negative or positive effects of exhaust system mods for fuel economy?
