I appreciate the super quick reply. I will let you guys know how the upgrade goes. I am going to try out the 4.10 gear ratio for a while but I will keep my old diff if I want to go back to 3.9

Finished swapping in a 2013 BRZ rear differential into my 2007 IS250 this weekend - axles slide in just fine.
I pulled the diff cover, inspected & cleaned everything, then filled it with Motul Gear 300 75w90 once in place.
Pulling the axles is easy with an SST type tool as shown in the repair manual - it is OTC tool # 6541 / 519375 - can be used with regular slide hammer.

Haven't had a chance to drive it too much yet, but so far my impressions are that it is a little more planted in the corners.
