Default GS400 Stalled Today?!?!

I have a 99 GS4 with about 40K miles and today in a parking lot in 65 degree weather it stalled! I have that low idle issue that many complain about, but haven't noticed anything else odd. I was driving slow (under 5mph) and hit my brake to pull into a parking spot and it died. This also happened once before about three months ago in a parking lot.

Any ideas??

Yeah, I was in the D position. I installed Torquemaster plugs about 3 months back so hopefully they are not the reason?!?! Ouch!

Arrow could be the plugs?

maybe gapping. i would change the plugs if it never stalled before 3 months ago? then if it still stalls after that, at least you know its not the plugs?

Exclamation

Its the TPS sensor issue
Lex might cover under warranty
Keep the a/c on and it wont happen
usually happens when the car is idle ie like in bumper to bumper traffic

Synergy, Stay out of parking lots. And start using that octane booster as we discussed.

I haven't had a stall, BUT, I do getr the low idle every now and then

Here is my experience:

gas: no, no difference
SRT intake: did it before isntall
AC on: raises RPMs
TM plugs: did it before install
TPS: dealer told me it was fine, even when I was ready to pay for it
Throttle Body dirty / cleaned it: no, no difference
Old battery: OEM or Optima YellowTop: SAME

Recently, someone mentioned not letting the gas level get too low since at low levels, the pump is more apt to pick up debris from the bottom of the tank, thus clogging/choking the fuel line (but odd since its not an issue in D )

Others have reported the TPS change out working. Still others have been told by technicians it's not a fix. I dunno.

Force the issue with your dealer if you are still under warranty and TELL them to change out the TPS.

Keep us posted.

you guys should check your battery, that's might be the problem for "stalling" see if it needs to be replaced..

Nope.

OEM or Optima YellowTop: SAME

Stalling, while the engine is running, is as I understand it, typically a fuel, or air delivery issue at its roots, or combonation of the two.

Question Check TPS

Check it out bro TPS. I was at my Lexus dealer & spoke to the Tech. about the low idle issues that alot of members were having.
While waiting for my car I hear another tech. report in to the service manager that the TPS was replaced & throttle body cleaned. I ask the tech. about the TPS & he's says Lexus has been changing them out. He says that they just go bad & they have been changing them out alot. He said this will fix the low idle issue. First they check the battery, connection, plugs, fuel filter,alternator,O2 sensor, TPS-Throttle position sensor. Hope this kinda helps. My old Y2KGS had idle problems but, after I changed my plugs to TM's. It completely stopped. I installed them, at 10K miles & put about 50K on them.

Hmmm... never had low idle, never had a stall... I wonder why it affects some cars and not others. Maybe the engine ECU software on new GS's is different and doesn't have the issue??
