Default The Ultimate Transmission FLush Question

Is it bad to do a transmission flush on a high mileage (regularly serviced) Lexus Gs300? My car has 177,000 miles and has been regularly serviced. Sometimes I feel a slight slipping and wanted to do a complete transmission flush. I have read mixed reviews about doing a transmission flush on high mileage vehicles due to gunk breakup ruining the trans or torque converter. Does anybody have any experience or input here? I am going to the dealer for a new key soon anyway so I would have them do it and replace the filter as well. Thanks

Just change 2 quarts / litres at a time. Full flushes kill older transmissions quite often.

Yeah man. My car had 182k on the clock and it started slipping.

I would swap out 2 quarts of new Toyota Type IV trans oil every time you changed the oil. I did it until the the oil came out looking brand new. I would say maybe 5-6 oil changes. No more slipping after all that.

But I can't say how long it would have lasted because I swapped my engine trans over to GTE soon after.

It's a difference if you have a shop doing a complete flush with a service tool, which is also often used with chemicals or just have a flush through your transmission cooler lines.
I would go for the 2.nd method, there is also a thread in here somewhere which describes that.
It works like this

^^This.I have a Toyota Sienna that I've maintained meticulously with over 331k on it. Decided to do a transmission flush and the following week it went kaboom. Two failures. One I shouldn't have changed the oil and two I used a non OEM oil(Dek) in it's place. In this case two negatives did not result in a positive. (Thats why I hate algebra) Anyway, three reputable shops that have no skin in this recommended NOT to flush a high mileage tranny and one would not even do it. Now this has me thinking about installing a transmission cooler on the Sienna. Hmmm
