The CDD removal affects the way the clutch engages
I think its in there for people who haven't driven a manual before.
So I found the delay annoying because the engine revs up because I am off the clutch pedal but the CDD has held it open for a split second.
this also meant that when the clutch was going out, I would let it engage fully before giving it load, but CDD messed up the timing, and the clutch would slip un-necessarily.

I have had this car now for over a year, and close to 9K miles mainly commuting in traffic.

I find the Box OK, better than my 1989 2.5L V6 Camry I purchased new, and obviously worse than a Sentra, Honda Toyota 1.5 - 1.6 class car.
But even with 146 K I crunched second for the first time yesterday.
Its has big heavy gears, and can take around 300 - 350 HP, so with good Oil, MT-90 or Amsol, I think it shifts OK.
It was still in production with improvements in the trucks, and that means some on here will call it a truck gearbox, but since its made by an external supplier Toyota just selects a suitable unit and gearing for each model.
I don't think Toyota would use it if it were not a least competitive with other units in this weight and HP class.
I drove a 2 new 3.5 Altima MT's over the last few years, and if you think our box is bad go drive one of those, its awful !!!
However the G35 MT is really good !!!
these of course were new or low mileage, definitely compared to my IS

I didn't noticed a huge difference w/out the CDD. It shifts smoother now but that may be just because I'm used to driving it now. It's a really easy mod though so it's no big deal to remove it. I had them put some Pennzoil syth fluid in when I got my oil change (that's all they had in synthetic) and didn't notice a difference in that either so I'm going to put the Redline in sometime.

My mom has a G35 6-speed Sedan and I drove it a few times but was disappointed. After the IS300 though the G35 is a dream.

ahhh finally I find the reason for the car not letting me burn out! Every time I tried it would burn out the clutch!

The R154 is also a good tranny if your looking to go manual and if you want to eventually want to go boosted.
