I can tell you, just from experience this weekend, while brake torqueing, I laid down a dual tire patch.

I have a new found respect for the skills required to be fast in drag racing.

I hate to bust bubbles here guys, but on street tires, your 0-60 is going to go DOWN at the track, and I mean slower.. the drag strip is designed to work well with slicks, pre-heated in the burnout box... I've always gotten much better traction on regular asphalt.
If you really want to have fun, you ought to get a 2n'd set of rear wheels, and get some drag radials, which will give you much better 60' times.

My local track in Nor Cal is Sears Point. Sea Level , cool climate and the first 660 feet is all concrete. Will that be any better or worse for street tires?
I don't care to run street legal drag radials just for the sake of lowering my ETs. I just wanna run the car the way I would drive it every day. I'd buy someone's old bracket racer if I really wanted to have some fun. Let's face it, a GS is not the greatest starting point for a drag car.
If the concrete doesn't help, I guess I'll have to go back out to test on the newly paved industrial area down the street. I've done a few new tweeks that might get me down to solid 5.2 zero to 60's.

That concrete is slippery as all hell withought the sticky, smoothness of slicks. I'm betting you will spin like mad trying to get traction. Make sure you drive AROUND the water-box, and with street tires, give it like 1 second of burnout.. Not to heat the tires that much, but to clean them off.. If you really heat up your street-compound tires to where they are smoking, your traction will be even lower.
Here in town, they redid a lot of the intersections with concrete, and when I had my hot-rod datson z-car, with a chevy 350 small block in it, I could get the best 2n'd gear screeches on the concrete, but never could on the asphault roads.
I'd say, run out of the groove for a couple runs (Don't pull into the inner edge of the track, where the dragsters run) and then go ahead and pull into this inner area for a couple, if the track officials will allow you to.. Some don't want cars with tread, chewing up the gooey sweet spot in the middle.
This is where I'm going to really miss my old Talon.. With AWD, I had 0-60 times in the low 3 second range.. And, my 60 foot times at the track were average of 1.7 seconds, with a few 1.6 second times. I'm betting your 60 foot times will be 2.1 to 2.3 seconds.. Let us know how it works out.

If you think getting traction with a limited slip and wide radials is tough... try it with an open diff and 225 touring radials
My best 60ft has been a 2.19 with the norm being 2.21, pretty consistent. This is brake torquing from 2000rpm. With a good LS diff I am confident of high 2.0s to low 2.1s. A 2.0 on this 14.22 pass would have been a high 13

jbrady, Nice reaction times on those first two runs there.. Its tricky getting a good .5xx reaction time consistantly.. That's why I like the Pro tree.. That's what I always raced on with my Talon.. all the lights flash, and you go. Almost impossible to redlight, and if you are on your game, that is where you can win the race.
