Gold Wrap Heat Reflect
Has anyone gold wrapped their intake? I don't understand this wrapping. Wouldn't this reflect the heat back into your intake?

I understand this approach better (or do I).

I have not but a few of my old buddies in the s2ki forums have. They track their cars and Gold is a good reflector of heat. This is why if you have seen some exotic engine bays like Ferrari's or i think it was a bugatti Veryron you will see some parts in Gold or use a similar product. Same concept as putting a ceramic heat wrap on the headers.
The first link is weird I don't know why he would do that, other than reflecting the heat coming from the turbine??? thats my guess but yeah I agree that doesnt make sense whereas the second link you have does.

Yes, the gold wrap is good for reflecting the heat. But on the flip side the wrap covers the metal SRI surface, thus inhibiting maximum heat disperment. This is the reason I decided againist painting my SRI with a wrinkle black finish. Though it'll look nice and the textured finish with help somewhat with heat dispursement (due the additional surface area with the texture finish), you still have a layer of paint on the pipe. Ups and down to it I guess; I'd say save your $$.
