Default Magnaflow Axle Back Early Reviews

Hi everyone. I've been lurking for a while and all the info has been really helpful. I've had my is350 F Sport for about 2 months and have completed a few basic mods including wheels and tires and some cosmetic stuff. I might start a build thread with more details.

I had the Magnaflow axle back system installed yesterday and thought an early review might help some people. Initial impressions are that I love it. It's exactly what I was looking for. I've been a loyal BMW owner for 7 years and almost stayed with them because of the exhaust sound from the 335. I was basically looking to get something similar to that or the Infiniti G37 sound. I think this is pretty close, maybe a bit louder. I'm 35 so I wasn't looking for anything loud, just a bit of a burble and this does that. It's loud enough to get rid of the fake intake noise from the sound generator or whatever it's call. I wasn't a big fan of that sound anyways. If I ever find the overall sound to be a bit much, I could probably just get the Joe Z intake to quiet it down a tiny bit.

I haven't had it on the highway yet so I can't comment on drone but once I do I'll give an update.

I'm happy with mine. Good sound and gets rid if the cheap factory tips too.

2nd (third?)

I'm very happy with the sound, quality, price, and service.

I haven't had a ton of highway time, but I'd say nothing significant. The only time it might be a touch intrusive is low rpm moderate load situations. Light load is quite quiet.

Thread bump. Now that you guys have had the exhaust for a while:

1) How intrusive is it at 2000-2500 RPM, inner city driving or cruising
2) Highway drone?

After muffler break in, the only "drone" is in 8th gear cruising on the highway at 65. Even then it is only a low hum that cannot be heard over the stereo. I'm very sensitive to annoying exhaust noise and I think the Magnaflow setup is a perfect balance. I think the F sport models should have come this way stock.

Have had it for almost a year now.

1) In the cabin, the deeper note is heard a little more than stock of course, but still very little under cruising or low throttle input. Under heavier throttle input, it's louder, burly, and much deeper than stock.

2) Like others have mentioned above, very little "drone" and when it is barely heard it is at the highest gear and lowest speed/rpm possible (around 40 mph, ~1500 rpm) under moderate load (say with 3-4 people on-board). It's never anything unpleasant or detracting from the enjoyment and extra breathing the exhaust provides. At higher speeds (70mph+), road and wind noise become more prevalent over any possible drone present.

Overall, I'd buy it all over again. It's an excellent axle-back for the dollar, especially when you factor in its availability and cost.
