Toms Super, F-Sport, or aFe Power?
Read every intake/filter thread and still cant decide!
what are advantages and disadvantages of these three filters?
They are all dry filters. My first impulse buy was k/n oiled filter but then i took it out when i read it only filters at 96% efficiency of oem and oil is bad for mass flow sensor. Wasted 60 bucks. Yolo.
the problem im having with throttle response is a couple times i would floor the car from a rolling start(pass the click) and it wont even downshift! the tach on the rpm gauge would just move up VERY Slowy. This happened once in f sport+ mode and once in normal. I sat there saying cmon cmon. What gives?
Second question is, do i have to unplug battery to reset computer with a new filter?

I was in the same boat as you were a couple of weeks ago. I read and re-read all the intake threads; as well as the intake threads for other gens and models (ie isf and gs models). after reading all that, I came to the conclusion that changing the filter element would be the best and cost efficient way to go. you are correct w/ filters that need oil after cleaning; there are instances when the oil has caused issues w/ the maf and so on and so forth. an issue w/ short ram intakes (ie injen, joe z, f sport, etc) is the metal tube heat soaking cause of where it's placed on the engine. until a company comes out w/ a tube that's less resistant to heat soak, then the stock tube is the way to go. (I'd love to have a carbon fiber intake tube...just sayin!) as far as the brands you listed, there will not be a huge difference. it's just going to come down to personal preference. the stock filter is very restrictive. if you haven't seen it, the paper is very dense, but it does it's job. going to a tom's or f sport will improve air flow and the car will respond better as the computer "learns" what to do w/ all the air.
to answer your second question, no you do not have to reset the computer after changing the filter.

Do the short ram intakes sound louder than stock with the sound generator?
I personally think the sound generator is cool. Wish there was a way to tune it to louder or Lower.
