I hope so. If it’s actually TRd then it might be something that’s covered under warranty if the dealer installs it. Looks like it’s going to be on display at the 2018 Tokyo Auto salon car show’ which starts tomorrow and goes through the weekend
That seems to be some custom race spec 3S-GTE, which is actually a really interesting swap if you think about it
I was hoping it was 8AR-FTS upgrade, but you’re right it can be a new generation 3S and they’re just comparing the power differences. Still pretty cool stuff!
It is an upgraded 8AR-FTS! Spec B looks to be a prototype turbocharger.
3S-GTE successor!
I know this is going to be ridiculously priced, but knowing that they are working to improve this motor tells me that we would be seeing more aftermarket support!
I knew we had a sleeper. That’s really cool guys! So without an upgraded turbo charger it says 289hp 354tq. To bad we’ve had to wait it out so long. Maybe toyota’s way of telling us what it can safely do. Hopefully Tony can match these numbers
Cool upgrade! Yeah it didn't seem right that they'd be resurrecting an old cartoon engine from the 90s (no matter how good it was) the graphic seemed to indicate that this newly tuned engine is a successor.
from the photo, looks like they upgraded or changed the crank pulley. not sure what the white stuff is. looks like plastic. but can't be plastic. white painted steel? weird
Also 367ps translates to about 360hp. so at least we know this means this engine (assuming the TRD has no internal/major mods) can safely handle at least 360hp. Which is about 300 wheel... which is about the limit the N20 guys are finding safe. so it all makes sense. Nice, but probably in a lighter car like a future GT86. 360hp is still kinda meh to move around 3,600 lbs.

I have a feeling the internals weren’t upgradedBut external like fuel pump injectors and a mc naaaaasty tune from the samurai warriors of the tuning world..Maybe a little turbo tinkering Although I can’t wait till someone pulls this sleeper beast out of its cave and disassembles it so we can really see how strong everything is
Nice! I see an aftermarket waste gate actuator. I wonder if there will be a TRD vacuum regulator lol

It is the 8AR, so that means aftermarket modifications for us.
If it was crank then 289 would be 245whp which I find to be off. I’m not going to assume these are crank numbers. 289whp and then 360whp on a modified turbo sounds correct.
