Yeah we are way past the 30% throttle limitation as TTI has elaborated on it multiple times. I said "Loving all the much needed engine/throttle tuning finally bringing it up to PAR..." everyone knows it would be a HUGE foul if Lexus made the is200t faster than the is350 right out of the box. Thanks for mentioning the water/air inter-cooler which is undisputed the best available. Not to mention the newer BMW M3 & M4 using the same water/air inter-cooler systems. I'm sure there's enough room but i highly doubt we'll need to upgrade in "size" unless your looking for ridiculously huge gains. I personally like the idea of having the exhaust manifold integrated, the four-into-two method helps with vibrations, balance, heat and an overall smoother engine however machining the inter exhaust manifold is possible but extremely expensive... I understand your not looking into tuning your 200t but they do have some nice window tint forums you can check out

TTI claims 3-4 psi over stock with the stage two reflash, sounds amazing! Loving all the much needed engine/throttle tuning finally bringing it up to par... I was looking into our internals aluminum alloy pistons, high-strength steel connecting rods, forged steel crankshaft and cast iron bore liners. Almost identical to the 328i (N20B20A) instead it appears the n20 uses a iron coated cylinder bore, they do this by electric arc wire spray. Different from our cast iron liners which are fused by irregular ('spiney type') surfaces on the casting exteriors providing better adhesion between the solid cast iron liners and cylinder block. Also the 328i is matching the 8arfts at 17 stock psi peak boost. A few other differences would be the bore and stroke, the 8AR FTS uses a 86.0mm bore and 86.0mm stroke whereas the 328i uses 84mm bore and 90.1mm stroke. The n20 crankshaft is made by die-casting steel which means its brought to a liquid state then cased into a mold, ill explain. Die-casting (liquefying) steel requires other metals like alloys such as aluminum, zinc, copper and magnesium which in theory gives you weaker' steel, not to mention porosity and cavity defects. In forging, steel is heated, often to very high temperatures, but remains solid then by physical force molded. Forgings can be made from steel and titanium that are not possible in die casting due to melt temperatures. We have basically the same internals however we have stronger solid cast iron bore liners, a more balanced bore x stroke, 1 extra cc and a stronger fully forged steel crank shaft. Super good, figuring most turbo engine platforms don't have forged internals, for example the Focus St. Some very reputable tuning companies involved with the 328I are pushing 6 psi boost over stock, with stock internals. It's going to be interesting seeing where we end up with the 8AR-FTS engine... Thank god we have TTI helping us!
Similar internals, same PSI, similar rated power, however our 8ARs are mountains slower. Is anybody still talking about the supposed 30% throttle limitation Lexus installed on the 200T for anything below 3k RPM? Anyone? TTI-- can you read this and comment on that? Or was that a false rumor someone posted?
Another challenge as some know will be upgrading the charge cooling (perhaps bigger liquid intercooler?--is there enough space?) and the turbo itself. It's integrated into the head so how do we get more flow. Time will tell =)
Note that the Chevy Cobalt 2.0 Turbo is also known to make MOUNTAINS of modded torque! One of its strong points is not only the beefy forged stuff, but also it uses very strong bolts that sandwich everything together. Overall I hope our platform is strong for extreme turbo mods. That would be awesome!

TTI is working on Turbo upgrade and on bigger cooling so lets wait and see

Tony and the TTI team has done a lot of R&D on the 8AR platform to ensure that their re flash is safe and reliable. The boost values may not be high, but with the addition of the other optimized engine components they all work together to give us that extra power we are looking for.

1) Smooth type de catted- pretty much a free flowing down pipe with no catalytic converter, but wouldn't cause a CEL because of the secondary O2 sensor spacer.
2) Vortex de catted- this down pipe has a vortex design inside which is to create a better exhaust flow. This also doesn't have a catalytic converter and also no CEL.
3) Sport catalyst down pipe- this one has a high flow catalytic converter, but is a lot better flowing than the stock restrictive twin cat down pipe and is smog legal if your state requires testing,

Regarding the throttle limitation we found different cars even MY16 and 17's 8AR has different rate of ECU data especially NX200T and RX200T FWD version, our team try to make throttle and pedal running approaching 1:1 but that is a target value, Although we are not doing the best, but our team is trying to achieve the best reactivity.
Basically our stage 2 we are optimization the water/air intercooler's water pump high speed running point to earlier improve and reduce when boost up intake air temperature keep the best cooling performance.
Sorry my English very poor I hope you can understand what I mean.

Also I very likely have more tuning and modding experience in one month than you do in your entire lifetime. I come from heavily modified BMWs and Subarus, including tuning experience with 800 RWHP M3s costing multiple times your IS does. I've built and tuned several cars from the ground up where people across the country have bought my cars without having even seen them in person due to my reputation. Can chill with the backhanded remarks. I don't have the time to pour through every single post so I wasn't aware that the tuner has addressed the 30% limitation since the last time it was brought up.
Also I don't want to tint my IS. That's ghetto.

The 8AR platform is still considered "NEW", we are happy that we can get more power and have a lot more fun with our car with the adjustments that have been made with TTI's ECU re-flashing. I am sure with more research and development we can fix the bugs and do a lot more with these motors.

-What will stage 3 consist of? Will we be able to put in 91 oct. in stage 3? How much boost are we talking?
Asking all these questions because I wanna keep it a daily driver, I have a 800hp supra, and don't get it out of the garage anymore, I am getting old :P

I am sure there will be special pricing for those looking to upgrade their ECU file (eg. Stage 1- Stage 2) the customer will just have to spend the money on the hardware that is needed for the upgrade. As of now, Stage 3 is in the works, but from what i heard it is going to be upgraded OEM turbo internals (Tony can shed more light on this) . Also the tunes are compatible with 91 and 93 oct.

The great thing about TTI re-flashing is that its progressive. You can start off with Stage 1, upgrade the down pipe and now move on to Stage 2 like i am currently in the process of getting done.
