Question gs 400 cost of ownership

I currently own a 97' BMW 540 Sport 6 speed w/t 68,000 miles. I am thinking of selling it and buying a 98/99 GS400. The main reason for the Lexus would be the perceived advantages of ongoing costs. Can anyone give me an idea of typica repair or maint. (major) item costs on 98/99 GS 400. When a GS 400 gets 100k on it what should I expect to replace and at what cost? What are the problem areas to watch out for?

Thaks for your help/advice

Since you mentioned 98/99, I will assume start with 30,000 service. This is what my Lexus dealership charges : 30,000-mile, 60,000-mile, 90,000-mile $700, 45,000-mile, 75,000-mile $400. Timing belt and water pump at 90,000-mile add $850. Majority of the service are inspections, replacing the A/T fluid, differential oil, brake fluid, coolant, tires rotation and oil change. You probably can get some of the simple stuffs done by yourself or non-Lexus shop. My previous Lexus was a pre-owned LS400 that and I traded after 95,000 miles without a single problem except regular maintenance.

thank you for the info.

what does a brake job costs? do you turn the rotors on this car or do they wear even and then are replaced after two sets of pads as on BMW? what does a pad job cost and pads and rotors?

My LS had its first brake job at 90,000 mile service. Lexus charges $500 for both front and rear brake pads, and resurfaced all rotors.

Thumbs up fairly inexpensive.

you can get your brakes done elsewhere for far cheaper price, or do them yourself minus the rotors. Basic maintence and taking care of the car will greatly effect how long it lasts. Good luck w/ your choice
