Charcoal canister????

Default Charcoal canister????

I got my 99 GS400 3 months ago, on the way to work yesterday the check engine light came on. I took it to Lexus this morning and they tell me the code tells them to change the charcoal canister....$750!!!! OUCH. They reset the light and said to bring it back if the light goes on again and they'll recheck the code. I don't see much talk around the forums about charcoal canisters, is this bull? If it's legit is this a do it yourself job?

That could in the catalytic converter. If it's true, there's not much Lexus can do since you're violating emissions standards if it's bad. Could be the result of the car having been driven on primarily very short trips. Is the car low miles?

It has 57500 miles. I only spoke to the guy on the phone, I'll get more details when I pick up the car in 1/2 hour.
