Default 98 gs400 rough idle then dies

i have a 98 GS 400 I was recently driving in the car randomly died and lost our throttle response. The car will start at idle rough and then die. Touching the gas pedal will make the car die immediately. The check engine light is on but only for a cylinder five misfire. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys

Fix your misfire issue, could be a bad coil and or sparkplug.

Change your oil, your oil pessure sensor or sensors valve is clogged, when you dont change the oil regularly they tend to get dirty and get stuck not allowing oil to be distributed evenly to the cams and cylinders in your case #5. If you have a V8 you have 2 of them if you have a V6 you only have 1

It is the v8, do you know where the sensors are located and would it have any specific cel codes?

Default Sensor Location

Sensors are also called variable timing solenoid depending on where you buy them from check out this youtube video only shows him change bank 1 he shows where bank 2 is very briefly but you can get an idea where its at.see i had the same problem with mine but its a V6 so i only have 1right on top of my cams so check this out see if it works it did on mine.i got those symptoms with mine and i realized i didn't change my oil i was about 3000 over and the oil was very dirty and clogged the solenoid the car was shutting off only when i started driving it an was misfiring like crazy and all the vsc and abs lights were on when i changed it all was good. I went through a whole process changing the oil my spark plugs, coil packs, wires, checked all air hoses for leaks changed battery and alternator and still had the problem so at the end of it all i ended up with a full tune up. I guess thats what happens when you do the work yourself instead of paying an enormously amount of money to get it done from the lexus dealer

A bad OCV will throw a code. Trust me, I just went through that. If you have a code for only cylinder 5 misfire then it’s 95% chance of dead coil.

Update: I replaced both oil solenoids, cylinder 5 coil, and charged the battery. And now there’s car won’t start at all just turns

You guys shouldn't be telling him to just replace parts. There is testing to be done. A single cylinder misfiring will not stop the car from starting. Nor will malfunctioning camshaft actuators solenoids cause only 1 cylinder to misfire.

As this point, now that it's a no start. You need to use a spark checker to see if you are getting spark. Also spray starting fluid into the throttle and see if it starts, or acts like its trying to start to know if its a fuel issue. Let me know if you are getting spark or not or if spraying does anything.
