Default Gs 300 Forced Induction

I've got a 01 GS 300 which has the 2jz engine in it. The 97 toyota supra twin turbo has the same engine. I bought the twin turbos off of the twin turbo supra. I am becoming hesitant to put them in because I don't want to blow my engine or cams. I have the stock intercooler for it to and a pump, but so far its only cost me 450. And looking at the turbo kit for my car is 5 g's. I've even got the manifold and tubing needed. Has anyone attempted this? Will it blow my engine? Will it add that much hp? Is it worth it?

Wait, let me get this straight: you got the 2 turbo units, manifold and tubing off of a supra TT and you want to put them on your car?

Are you expecting a plug-n-play deal or are you prepared to do some major work? Because I can tell you right now, if you are expecting a simple job, you are just wasting your $450. The engine management system of a GS is completely different from a supra tt. And by the way, you only share the "2JZ" part of the engine, it's what's behind those code that separates the car.

For example, your GS is 2JZ-GE while a supra is 2JZ-GTE. I know, it's just a letter away, but it's a totally totally totally totally (need I say more?) different cars. If you got the vvt-i, it's an even more complicated job and companies like SRT in Cali charge a very very high price to do the conversion.

You won't blow your engine because you won't be able to install them, heheh . Cams can't get blown. You should probably do a little bit (well, a lot!) of research into turbocharging your car before you start buying misc. supra TT parts.

There are a lot of available resources here on CL and a lot more expert opinions that will probably agree with me. SRT makes some nice turbo kits for your car that seems to be hassle free. It will be much better than trying to do a custom hackjob with the supra turbo units.

there's alot more than just bolting on Supra turbo parts. ECU, tranny, driveshaft, and alot of other things need to be done. That's why no one's doing it.

It's easier to just swap the engine with a Supra TT engine (including transmission). But then again the ECU still needs mod and work.

I don't recommend doin just a bolt on with what you have. It just won't work. Invest in a reliable turbo kit or engine swap if you absolutely need power.

The GE and GTE have different heads so the turbo manifold will not bolt up.
SRT has turbo kits for the GS300.

Default If you didn't know TBKO is now offering a stage 2 kit for->

the IS300 for $4999.00. It includes bigger injectors head gasket and the greddy emange. Right now this seems to be the best bang for your buck kit available. Lets just hope they adapt this kit for the GS300, I will be giving them a call soon to find out. www.tbko.com

By the way I thought I was the only one that was obcessed about boost in my GS. It looks like me and you are suffering from the same sickness. LOL

How is your car coming along, Did you get all your parts from SRT yet?

You are right, tbko should be the best bang for the buck if they can only make one for the GS. As for SRT, they have an option to purchase the Greddy emanage or the HalTech® E6K. Something I'm looking forward to. As for my turbo kit, I shipped everything back to SRT to get the new KIT which is being put together and also waiting for either their Greddy emanage or the HalTech.

Let's hope there is more Boosted GS running around, as of now, I only know of 8 Boosted GS.

Default Wow, I didn't know you return your kit.

This must be getting frustrating for you because I know you wanted to turbo your car from early in the year.
But I guess everything is for a reason and it look like SRT new kits are producing good numbers. Are you still going with the stage2? You mentioned that you know about 8 boosted GS anyone of them have a website?
Thanks:Jose
